Our recruitment department are so frustrating. They have made some decent signings since arriving but also wasted a lot of time and effort on a few duds. Do we watch players in the flesh or is it just all digital? I know every club is trying to use stats/moneyball/agent recommendations etc to find some hidden gems. If we had bothered our backside going to Germany to watch the Finn we could have saved a transfer fee, signing on fee and a decent wage. Very Nice guy, but we have a winger that cant cross a football

Watts posted a picture of him in some Glasgow restaurant today. Looks like he is away.

All i can say to that is LOL.
We will sell him this window for a tenth of that, plus add-on's (that might never come to fruition). The fee will of course be 'disclosed'

Not really Utd related (well kinda) but hearing Callum Butcher is signing for Dundee.
Bit of a pisser, if true.

And supposedly, Danny Swanson said during Dode Fox show that he is sending 2 players to Utd on trial (i'm assuming he's now an Agent).
Hearing both players are only 16 years old though. So, possibly just one's for the future.

He does individual coaching in Edinburgh, basically extra sessions for footballers in addition to their club training.

Cool with that - plenty boys dropping out of Hibs/Hearts at that age that are worth a look. Also standard in East league outwith the top clubs is actually pretty decent.

Also, apparently (not) MacLeod is worth £4M...
No wonder some laddies get ahead of themselves.

Just wondering how much other posters have seen of Macleod??? I've only seen snippets of his cameo performances so can't really comment on his undoubted talent, but we bemoan other clubs getting big fees for their young talent then state that our young talent can't be worth that amount....

There's obviously some formula behind it but I can't see how a player can be valued that highly when he's played a minimal amount of first team football.
Offline
i would guess at around £0.5m up front fee with other performance an appearances triggering payments like
£100k first time he gets call for under 21s
£100k after a certain number of under 23 matches
and then increasing in value
£250k for a first team debut
That would probably work up until around £2m and the remaining £2m is probably speculation on sell on value.
I get the model in terms of money for a player who may never fill their potential if they stay but i would like to see the club bring more players through to the first team even if that means having better players but a trimmed down squad to allow them opportunities.
Any updates on Tony Watt leaving, the Salford rumours seem to have went quiet recently?

Thought he looked really good when he started against Celtic last season -the game when they clinched the league. Other than that its just been a handful of fleeting sub appearances so really hard to judge.
I know he's done very well at the various levels coming through though and highly thought of outside of Tannadice.
Another lad who just needs games.

Moyes is in serious trouble and if it's him that rates the player so highly then it may not happen if he gets punted.

Salford trying to get watt on loan not a permanent deal

Charmers to Tranmere Rovers confirmed.
On loan until the end of the season.

Scott burns and daily record reporting signings will be made before the end of the window. I'd guess sales are also the same way.
Guessing watt is on a good wedge - so maybe him out and 2 in? Shame it's not really worked for him here. Whatever motherwell we're doing with him really suited him

Eriksson could be on his way to an unamed Danish team according to this article.
I wonder if a new gk will be brought in or if young Newman will be used as the backup keeper.

Wasn't he Scandinavian goalkeeper of the year the year before he moved here? Had a decent pedigree, surely.

Goalie of the year in his Division, yes.
I'm guessing he does actually have some ability, but football is a funny business and sometimes players just absolutely flop at some clubs for whatever reason.
