High performance centre

What goes on at this place?

The goalkeeper - is the keeper improving? My opinion is that he ain't, hearts in my mouth with every cross ball that comes in.

Defending - we just can't defend crosses and there is a clear lack of appetite to stop it coming into the box. No improvement noted since the start of the season.

Recent weeks have seen other team exploit the lack of aggression the both wing backs and the cetera half either side of Edwards.

Midfield - Not creating anywhere near enough and bullied, week in week out.

Recently it improved slightly and that is down I feel to the introduction of Sibbald. Not his greatest fan but at least he shows for the ball and gets about.

Strikers- overall it been a shocker this season however since Crawford came in and Watt played through the middle there has been an improvement but it would have been difficult to get worse.

Youth Players- for as bad as it is, there's nothing. No players coming through that you look at and think he should have be in the starting 11

Considering the amount of boys that got a chance last season, not one of them is making a claim fir a starting berth in our faltering first team.

Our bench- a very expensive bench we have and even a few in the stands that are on a good wedge and again there seems no notable improvement when they come on.

My point is that for this very expensive squad that we have assembled I don't think they are being helped by the coaching.

3-5-2, teams have clocked on to our weaknesses and its too easy, we need to get back to being hard to beat.

Thoughts?

Re: High performance centre

Honestly think we should get a new gk coach. The similarities from when he was here the last time and now is fucking scary. Has he actually improved any keeper? They only seem to get worse....

Should get a defensive coach added to the coaching staff.

And yeah, teams know how we set up formation wise. This needs to change, got to mix it up and the players should be able to adapt accordingly

Re: High performance centre

I agree about the goalkeeper coach, an obvious weak spot in both his spells at the club. We either sign a decent keeper, which will be hard at the moment as it's looking at free agents, or get a better coach who can work with Ericsson on the areas he needs to improve.

I actually think Ericsson could be a good keeper in the long term with the right coaching, he has some of the attributes like a big physical presence and he makes good saves. The other parts like positioning, kicking, dealing with crosses are the easier parts to improve with a good coach.

Re: High performance centre

A complete lack of young players coming through is a major problem for the club.
Wee seem to be trying to develop good 5 a side players Chalmers, Glass, Mochrie,Meekison.......... all have natural ability, however completely unprepared for the physicality of Scottish football.
Yesterday was another example of our lack of height ,aggression and general win at all cost attitude.

I completely agree, all of the players we bring through are much of a the same. Tippy tappy sideways passes and great in possession in our own half.

Ross Graham is the only one that makes any sort of a case but I really fear for the boys development/confidence.  Is it any wonder Lewis Neilson jumped at the first chance?

I hate being negative but it's the truth, we don't seem to be progressing in any department other than Striking and that's only in short period that Crawford has joined.

Another example is Niskanen, I'm not his biggest fan but he put in some decent performances from memory around Christmas (motherwell at home springs to mind). Where is his career going, his performances when given a chance have nose dived.

Very few examples of progression can't be highlighted and new ideas are clearly required.

Re: High performance centre

The coaches in the academy are inexperienced and this is showing with the lack of kids coming through

The young team gets pumped most weeks
