Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

Has to be the same formation and starting XI as Saturday? Surely?

Or would you change anything?

Stick with a winning team.

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

We need to keep energy levels high, so wouldn't be surprised to see a small amount of squad rotation (although still early in season and a couple of the main contenders were subbed on Saturday, so hopefully not required).

With such a sudden improvement in shape on Saturday, it isn't clear to me yet whether the players made it work, or the shape made the players look better, so I wouldn't be too despondent if Harkes plays again for instance, as despite recent form he has been decent in the past.

I'm just praying that we have actually turned a corner and that Saturday wasn't all about how absolutely stinking Aberdeen were.  They looked like us a few weeks ago.

We need to find a way to stop Martin Boyle tomorrow night.

Whether that is man marking him, doubling up on him or just trying to take him out well away from goal. We must find a way.

Luckily we have inside info, Aziz Behich knows him better than anyone else from Socceroos training.

Has to be the same team for me. I don’t want to see Mulgrew/Fletcher/Harkes shoehorned back in if fit. They should have to fight for their place like anybody else. I can just see Mulgrew trying to ping a long ball up to Fletcher then that becomes the norm for the day.

Agreed. Same team for me.

Too much commotion

Different opposition creates different problems. Aberdeen were not particularly strong in the air so we got away with only 1 6ft + player.
Mulgrew , Fletcher & Graham all provide a bit more aerial ability. Also the keeper is not commanding on the high ball.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or more of them back in the team tomorrow.

I noticed that also, only the Sheep Keeper looked tall when they were lining up.

Set pieces and cross balls are a massive part of the Scottish game.

We will also need to keep an eye on Tom Daly, as mush as Jim Goodwin is a bell 🔔 end he was 100% correct about him.

Plenty of shots and effort from the team is all we ask.

Same team and hopefully the same attitude and commitment from them all.

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

Has to be the same midfield, having Sibbald in there gave us more bite, composure on the ball and seemed to allow Levitt to play his natuaral game.

Can maybe see McMann dropping out for Graham but I think it sends the wrong message to make too many changes to a winning team

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

Not a bad player on the park tonight and good to see the fighting spirit through the whole team. Big Ryan had a great 2nd half. No reason why we can't perform like that every week.

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

I think a special mention for the keeper tonight. He stood up very well to the 1 on 1 and saved Sibbald from a disaster.
Many good performances tonight. Behich, not just for the goal, Edwards, Mcmann , Smith + Watt looks like a totally different player.
Probably just about deserved the win. 3 better shouts for a penalty in the 1st half than the one we got on Saturday.
Onwards to RC on Saturday

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

Great result and also a decent game.

Great effort fromnthe team tonight and also backed again massively by the fans. 85 minute mark when we were having to dig a bit, it was great to see us on our feet showing our appreciation.

That is all we the fans expect, effort , fight and desire.

Some great performances especially the keeper , Aziz and Smith.

Some real great touches from Levitt.

Thought that Middleton shat it when through with Marshall.

Great win, let's get another 3 against these hammer throwers on Saturday.

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

Well that was a tough ane was it no. Decent battle.

The lads certainly had to dig deep to get the win, but dig-in they did. They ah deserve credit.

Once again our opponents had maest oe the ba. We couldna get the ba aff them in the middle oe the park. Gee the Heebee Jeebees some credit for being a good passin team.

Oor Wullie Sibbald should never been tae'in aff. Noticeable drop in positive play when Harkes came in.

The most negative thing was all the time wasting at the end oe nomal time. Umpteen chances to put the ba right inta their box.
We even got a free-kick just on the edge oe their box which was put back toward the coarner.  Coulda been suicide.

Then there's 6 minutes oe Extra time, during which Hibs pummeled us. Nerve racking x 2.

Still brilliant that we managed to keep a 1 nil lead for 85 mins to tak the 3 points.

Ref. Totally useless chunt. Twa pens in the 1st half. Glaringly obvious.
Hibs player shoulda been aff for the push on Freeman.

MOTM for me. Despite misgivings. Ericksson for his stops. Kept us in it.

Just hope its "Fox on a run" when we go up to Coonty Chunty.

Re: Utd v Hibs - Tuesday 11th October (7.45pm)

Weird game, we could have been 3-0 up before Hibs had that goal chopped aff.  Looked offside from where I sit but was seemingly for a push?  Linesman certainly didn’t flag.

Hibs probably should have scored a couple in the 2nd half but for some bad finishing and good goalkeeping.  Ref was all over the place.

Great fighting from the lads again though.  Thought Watt put in a great shift again.
