Got a horrible feeling Saturday will be the day their support have been craving for 9+ years now i.e. a full and vociferous Ibrox support watching their side defeat Utd comfortably.
We will not only need every single Utd player to play at their absolute best on the day but we will almost certainly require a calm and strong ref, as their support will scream for absolutely everything.
What team would you put out ?

I also have a bad feeling about this game, we are on a bad run and in some ways Ibrox is the worst place for our next game.
4-5-1 and keep it simple for as long as its goalless. No stupid mistakes, keep the shape, and fight for every ball.

I've got a wee hunch we will up our game here. When the chips are down, Tam seems to get the best out of our lads.
2-1 United, with goals from Mulgrew and Nicky Clark.

5-3-2 when defending, Mulgrew pushes in front of Edwards and Smith to give us a midfield diamond when we get possession, in a 4-4-2. Gets Mulgrew the chance to get on the ball in a bit more space 10 yards higher to ding those 40 yarders to feet. Pace and athleticism up front. High 4-5-2 press with McMann and Freeman up with Levitt. Clark and Pawlett on the bench - they haven't done much for weeks now. Glass likely on for Levitt after 55-60 mins.
I’d be happy with this as long as we play with a high intensity and plenty energy for 90 minutes like we did in the game at Tannadice.

In this second quarter of games, you could argue Courts’ style has ‘been found out’
Now GVB & his team may not be in this boat. We may still ‘catch them cold’, who knows.
Yes, I am clutching at straws

The team with the better players normally win. Cant see it changing on Saturday.
To get anything at Ibrox the away team needs to have belief in their ability.
The current UTD team are extremely low on belief and confidence because they dont score many goals.
Better Utd teams than this one have had a few kickings at Ibrox.
6-0

Think Freeman will be out and we will play with a back 3 sporle and immi as wingbacks

Heard a wee whisper that we have Covid problems and game may be off.

If true Hibs game must be in jeopardy also. Given the 10 day isolation ruling.

Now being reported in the press that St Andrews training centre been closed down and we are awaiting PCR results.

An own goal of McMullan proportions. We're told to cancel Christmas parties but the Covid privileged football team nonetheless decides to go on the randan to party central Newcastle and lo and behold...
You have to question the management here - we are going to get the book thrown at us.

Game not in doubt according to STV and the case is not related to Newcastle.

No we weren't, it was only advise at that time.

No rules have been broken. Covid is on the rise therefore its inevitable it will hit Scottish football.
Moaners will always be moaners however.

Stand by what I said, the government advice was to cancel Christmas parties and covid privileged football clubs should have been first in the queue to do just that. The point is not that it is inevitable that covid will hit Scottish football (which I agree) it is that our club (any club) should not be ignoring government advice when they are already in a privileged position (whether that is law or not). Similarly such a lax view is likely to cost us on the pitch so why would they do that. As someone has said on another board there is a 3 week winter break coming up - was that not the time to have that party?
Some people don't allow you to criticise the management of our club though....

5 players have covid and a further two have been deemed 'close contacts'.
In other words we better pray the game is called off.
Not sure how anyone can be called a 'moaner' for questioning the wisdom (or lack thereof) of having a night on the piss just before our busiest part of the season.
Could most certainly have waited two weeks when they are off for three weeks as said above.

Yes, especially if the initial speculation that it was picked up/spread on the night out is correct. Sturgeon/Leitch etc. won't miss the opportunity to give a lecture out to football and especially us. That's the book I'm on about. There will be no leeway from the league and opposing fans either. It was simply a stupid decision. That's not a moan - it is pointing out a rather embarrassing fact.
As stated on another forum, this was at the time when clubs had been told that a case on a bus meant all on the bus had to isolate for 10 days. That just makes it worse.

If a lecture from Sturgeon or Lietch is the same as breaking the rules fair enough youve got a point.
By going on a night out no rules were broken.
IMO far better going on a teambuilding night and making your own decision about your health than listening to the panic merchants in Holyrood.

COVID aside, people have been paying their hard-earned cash to watch impotent pish for several weeks now. Yes, nights out are usually good for team morale, but read the bloody room, eh? Time would be better-spent working on creating chances.
so from 9pm - 4am on Saturday night they should have been on the training ground ?

That's already been denied by the club, they say there is no link to positive cases and the Newcastle trip.

That's clearly luck more than design. Doesn't make the trip itself anything other than stupid.
