Has quality but never got a shot up top. I don't think he's either a grafter, particularly quick or particularly good at holding the ball up....but he can score.(saying he idoesnt possess great work ethic speed or hold up play doesn't mean he is bad- either does shankland and he did just fine for us) It was an odd signing in the first place unless shanks was due a move last year....
I'd take him but is he perhaps (like shanks) too close to being the same player as nicky Clark?

If Utd sell Siegrist, Shankland and Robson (and anyone else) this window then we need to see an ONSLAUGHT of signings. And not just 3 or 4 i.e. replacing what we lost. Let's cut the shit, we'd need about 6 minimum, maybe even 7.
2 Strikers
2 wingers
CAM
Left back
Back-up Goalie
Anything else and we run the risk of becoming detached at the bottom end of the league, either individually or with another team.
Nevermind, we can all sit back and enjoy the Development Squad showcase their incremental improvement.
Think there is any possibility of Mark Ogren actually making an appearance in person? He will not be forced to self isolate. I wonder if the £350,000 is his cash or leverage. I think he might go for a Rights Issue. Personally, I'd reject anything other than him putting up some of his shares in exchange for supporters funds.

He was alright on his loan spell but for me I don't think he did enough for us to merit us signing him this season.

I would like to keep and fully utilise Shankland but a number of factors has put paid to that. Looking on the bright (and maybe too optimistic) side, the cash injection may be exactly what the SQUAD needs to be much improved. If things stay the way they are, we have an under utilised resource who gets no service from the inadequate and imbalanced squad.
If he goes for a fee, that frees up wages and maybe some other revenue to procure (maybe) multiple players in different positions which means we'll be a much more effective unit than having a good player isolated up front.
Lot of ifs and buts there but there's definitely opportunities there if it happens.
On McNulty, would be a good replacement but we'd still be in exactly the same situation where he'd benefit from having different types of attackers around him. Hence the above need for multiple signings.

Agreed. He's not that different really from what we have tbh. Lazy signing imho.

My thoughts on him were that he a bang average player and wouldn't be stretching any budgets to get him.
If we have no wingers and zero creativity we need a big target man and a fast guy next to him.
Route 1 football.

Going to be loans and free agents. All lazy and all through TC's contact rather than players the head coach has scouted

And mine. Too similiar to Clark.
We need two Strikers if Shankland leaves btw.
Clark isn't good enough at this age and this level, and Appere is a complete unknown quantity at this level. But i'm doubting he'd cut it. Not even sure he is a Striker tbh. Does anyone know his best position?

I'm in two minds on a McNulty return. I think he is lazy and does have baggage, but played in his favoured position we might get a bit more out of him and he is at least 'the devil we know' as opposed to whoever else Tony has lined up to replace Shankland, who might be shit or probably doesn't yet exist despite protestations otherwise (unless it is McNulty).

McNulty in his favored position works for me i think. Don't quite get the dislike for him, Mellon was playing anti-football latterly (most of the season). McNulty like many others suffered because of this.
Shankland has been huge for us but between tactics and form was well off it last season, not that many people noticed.....

Agree. The goals he did score were high caliber goals. The other side of the coin is, so people expect us to sign someone better than McNulty just sitting there ready to sign and bang in 15 goals guaranteed?
Same rules apply though. We can not replace shankland for McNulty and not change anything else. Same murderball tactics and no supply will see him, or anyone else fail.

It's a fair point about Shankland.
A 26yr old striker who has played his entire career in Scotland with less than 10 goals in the top flight.
As far as buying clubs are concerned the jury is still out.

Nae probs if Shanks leaves.
Bring him in. No be the 1st time he's played at Tannadice. And he does like a hat-trick.

A player supposedly had a medical today so if that’s went fine then surely signing will be done by tomorrow. No idea who or what position.

Next week a attacking player is signing according to courts
Fucking joke, no rush tam, you’ve only had 3 months to get it sorted

Please be true. We need something else to talk about..

If its mcnulty, there won't be a lot to talk about 🤣

I’m not against McNulty signing but after that intro I’ll be disappointed if it is. He’s a good player that I think will get better in his correct position but after last season he’s hardly getting anyone excited and he doesn’t bring any particular attributes we’ve been missing.
Offline
Agree. My comments were more to do with us already knowing him, so there's not much to talk about or be excited about.

I’m not against Marc McNulty coming in should Shankland / Clark leave. (we of course still need a striker in on top of that)
But it doesn’t say much for the global talent scouting network if the best we can do is a guy who was here last year..

He's maybe not the player we want, but if he comes he must be the player we need. Despite us not being that bothered that he left at the end of last season. Funny old game.

Interesting that Tam has said we are due an 'exciting' signing next week.... It will be interesting to see what he classes as exciting..... (I'm hoping for a fast, out and out winger with a few tricks up his sleeve) but will settle for a Jon Daly/Jim hamilton/Billy Mehmet style player too :D
