This Sporting Life (1963)

Watched this on Talking Pictures this past week.

Richard Harris is mesmerising in this. He was nominated for an Oscar for 'Best Actor'.

Re: This Sporting Life (1963)

I can name at least two classic American films who have plagiraised scenes and some of the character development from this.

Both Boxing films.

I can only guess Rocky. A bit unfair to say plagiarised (if you do mean Rocky)   Stallone pretty much wrote the whole thing based on one fight he saw.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Rocky is one.

Not plagiarised from the script, per se.

More just subtle movements of the character that mimic Harris's.

For instance when he is trying to seduce Adrian and lifts his arms up to hang on the overhead pipes, showing off his physique.

Completely mimics a scene in the above.

The other similiarities are in 'Raging Bull', though that is more to do with the characters anger problems and sense of injustice.
