Mark ogren has to make biggest call since taking over, we’re going down with him in charge
The players have absolutely chucked it, team selection is baffling, subs are comical
There is absolutely nothing positive about this season, it’s been dreadful
Offline
Can't afford it but something needs done.
Best two strikers in the league outside the OF in our squad, arguably anyway, and playing for draws. Absolutely disgusting.
Offline
Tommy Wright and Steven Robinson both available. Even with this limited squad I think either will keep us up. I don’t have that confidence with Mellon.
We need someone to sort out our defending at set pieces as we gift goals every week from corners and free kicks. Mellon also won’t give up on playing all 3 of Shankland, McNulty and Clark even though he only ever plays 1 up front.

Needs to go now - Steven Robinson in
Absolute garbage, give yourselves an hour or two & think again. Knee-jerking not cool.

What has Mellon shown to suggest he’s the right man for the job?
Offline
The Ogren's have 24 hours to save our season.
Either use a small slice of the incoming 1.7M to back the man you appointed + let him get 2 or 3 in.
Or
Sack him + get in someone who can get a tune out of these players. Doing neither is not an option.
Relegation would cripple us.

This has been coming months mate and it’s hit peek, I would think vast majority will think this now
We’re not at the stage we’re in serious serious danger of going straight back down, they need to either back him or sack him

The problem is we have waited so close to the window now that there is no time to really sack him, appoint someone else AND get in players.
I think we are screwed tbh. But perhaps someone else would get more out of these players.
Enough to keep us up anyway.
I wanted Tommy Wright in the Summer and he'd still be my choice. But we also have the Asghar problem.

Can’t argue with that. Unfortunately there is very little chance of either happening.
Are you not sick & tired about sacking managers, where does it end?

Was never keen on Mellon from day one.
Ogren needs to remember it's his club, not Revolution Sports.

He has shown absolutely fuck all to convince me he is a manager, he first few games we showed a big of dig but the football was still brutal.
The dig has gone, the football is still brutal.
This is mirroring the mid nineties except the mid nineties we actually had a good squad.

I'm sick and tired of Dundee United being shite.

Dyer sacked at Killie. Hoping for some similar news coming out of Tanny tonight but deep down know it’s never happening.

That's a shame, I'm sorry to hear that.
What a horrible game this is, really.
There's no sanity.

This made me laugh. In a good way. Couldnt agree more. Fwiw I agree with both the comments quoted here. I feel both of these equally at the moment.
I think its really important to remember where we are in the league and the points gap we have. Yes, it could be cut down quickly, but it could also grow massively IF we can go and get two wins at two grounds we have already won at this season.
Coming out with stuff like "we are going down" is either a knee jerk reaction to a couple of very poor results or its someone who really wants to be able to say "i told you so" if it does go to the shitter.
Mellon is probably in a more difficult position than any Dundee United manager I can ever remember.
To Tek's earlier point about MO. He HAS to give him to chance to bring in even 1 player. We all saw the difference Fuchs can make to this team. There HAS to be irons in the fire that TA or MM have had their eye on for a while. Go get it done. Ensure our safety.
My own opinion on the "we are going down arguement" is that I can see us turning this round if our important players stay fit.
But at the same time, lose our next 2 matches and I am extremely worried about what lies ahead. Win our next 2 and I'd happily put my stake in the ground to say we are totally fine. Its that tight at the minute.

This 90%.
Some things to add though:
- Teams behind us with games in hand
- Teams that have leapfrogged us
- Total inability to deal with dead ball
- Goals are like hens teeth
- Reluctance to drop Reynolds
But what really gives me the fears is we've got the jitters,we lack self belief, we're beginning to get bad rub of the green in terms of inept refereeing (linesman) decisions.
Like you say LEK - win the next 2, put some distance between us and the dross behind us, because if not we're looking at a managerial merry go round situation.

Agree with this. I couldn’t bear to go back to that division.

Time for cool heads. IMO opinion it would be ridiculous to sack a manager after less than a season. Being in a false position in the top six for a while has maybe clouded people's judgement. This is a set of players who will do well to finish 10th. I've said that from the 1st match of the season. The way last season finished didn't help us, has a team ever won the league on a run of one win in 9? We have a very limited set of players at UTD at the moment.
The team lacks pace, power, movement & Ariel ability all the usual elements that win games in Scotland.
I know it's unfashionable these days not to lash out and look for scapegoats but we have to persevere with MM.

Sick to death watching this s.hite every week. Very, very poor indeed. In fact let’s face it we have been s.hite for years since Tamsin phukd us over, Tim two onwards. Piss poor managerial appointments for years, with hindsight. Has not been an easy time to be an Arab.
However, I think it’s too early to get rid of Mellon. He has to be given the chance to keep us up. For what it’s worth I think he will and despite results, standard of play etc etc, I think we have the players to do it.
Pick the right team, employ the right tactics and get us out of this malaise.

In terms of tactics, he was employing the tactics that (although awful to watch) were picking us up points. In the last 2 games he's left Edwards benched and moved to a back 4. This has cost us massively. I will hold my hands up and say I was calling out for 442 but after watching us in the last two games I was to see us back to a 352, difficult to beat in the next two away games.

That's the way I see it too. We all know this is not an ordinary season and patience is needed. Don't know why but these last 2 defeats seem to be harder to take and maybe it's because we are near to having enough points to be sure of survival in the division but we all know there are no easy games.

Agree LEK, have to give that a go again. Oh joy.
That team is the way possibly. Clark has to be more active up front and not drop too deep. Like the look of the midfield.
