Just a bit of fun

Happy Friday lads!

As I am bored out my tree at the moment, I was thinking about our squad and its depth/quality etc.

I put two teams together that I think are fairly evenly matched from our current squad, playing in our most used formation of 3-4-1-2 (I know... more like 5-4-1, but still) and thought I'd do a poll on which side you think would pick to come out on top. Here goes, vote below!

Team 1:

Siegrist (GK)

Neilson (CB)
Edwards (CB)
Graham (CB)

L Smith (RWB)
Butcher (CM)
Harkes (CM)
Sporle (LWB)

Chalmers (10)

Shankland (ST)
Appere (ST)

Team 2:

Deniz (GK)

Freeman (CB)
Connolly (CB)
Reynolds (CB)

Bolton (RWB)
Fuchs (CM)
Powers (CM)
Robson (LWB)

Mochrie (10)

Clark (ST)
McNulty (ST)

Which team do you prefer?

I'll be accused of 'fence sitting' and maybe i am.

But i reckon it would be a draw.

Right Tek, Scottish Cup final 2021, you're in charge, what team are you picking?

Re: Just a bit of fun

Lars, very interesting.  You have managed to pick 2 teams from 22 first team players that are very easy to pick flaws in.  I'm beginning to see that MM doesn't have an easy job.  I'd agree with Tek here.  A draw most likely, but I'm going to give it to Team 2 by a goal.  For me you've managed to highlight in one post that we really don't have a lot of quality to go around. Maybe that's inevitable but scary all the same.  Team 1 looks light in the CB position and with Butcher's form and Harkes ability for a pass the CM is questionable.  I like the rest.  Team 2 is too defensive in mid and the attack looks bereft of a focal point. What is does highlight is the lack of creativity in the forward midfield position.  Maybe Mochrie and Chalmers can be the solution to that, maybe not.  Interesting that you didn't stick in Pawlett who seems to be MM's current answer to that problem.

No score draw.
I need to see your subbies, when I assess an eleven I first look at the subbies.

Re: Just a bit of fun

Fuckin hell Smedz

all right... but we can only have 3 subs per team as we are running oot of players. So just imagine its the 90's.

Team 1 subs:
Davidson, Hoti, Fotheringham

Team 2 subs:
K Smith, Pawlett, Glass

Re: Just a bit of fun

I think team 1 with Benji and Shankland is slightly stronger, both teams would definitely concede so I’ll say 3-2 to team 1

I struggle to see what Pawlett bring to this team on the park mate (maybe off it his experience is good to have around) so couldnt be bothered shoe-horning him in, as both Robbie and Micky seem to have done constantly over his two years at United.
