Many thanks Rodge.
The 6th Game of the 1st Round saw a very close fought contest eventually won by former maverick centre forward DUNCAN FERGUSON.His 5 votes were enough to ensure his safe passage through to the 2nd Round as a top seed.Joining him in the 2nd Round (albeit unseeded) will be former Cup hero CRAIG BREWSTER who finished in 2nd place.Eliminated fae the tournament at the 1st hurdle are 2010 Cup winner David Goodwillie and former Roma slayer Stuart Beedie. The latter sadly up against stiff competition and as a consequence registering no votes.

I'll vote for Billy McKinlay.
I would say he deserves to be in the 'Cult Hero' Cup and i'll tell you why.If i was to have a 'Utd legends' competition would you say a guy who never won anything witth the club deserved to be in it?i would say NO,as harsh as that sounds.
I was also in two minds as to whether Derek Stark should be in the competition given he's won 3 trophies with the club. But i reasoned that a lot of Arabs of a certain age would probably walk by him in the street.Would they do that to Luggy,Narey,Hamish or Heggy? No chance. So i figured he was more deserving of 'cult' status than bona fide legendary status.
Just IMO.

Agree with what your saying mate bit lads with winners medals shouldn't automatically get ahead of others either
lads like doug smith etc never won a medal...yet danny cadametiri and ian britton hae medals

The Cult status can be very subjective that's for sure. As your getting at TEK it should go toward the more overlooked player winner or not. For the most part I don't really look at number of appearances/goals or number of trophies etc. For me its just about that particular player, their character, rapport with the fans, highlight moments of their career which could be as little as a wonder goal or hugely significant goal but they only played 10 matches in tangerine and black, players that were just that bit different from the norm.
So on the back of that - The Monk.

You are right Stobes in that a Utd player who's not won anything with us can still be a club legend, most definitely.
But guys like Doug Smith tend to be the exception rather than the rule.
He would however definitely be in a 'Utd Legends Cup' alongside other non-medalists like Finn Dossing,Duncan Hutchison etc bud (which i may do at some point if folk think it's worth it).

No point in a United legends cup sir.
Narey would walk it. By miles.
And rightly so
