Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Just mention a name to McBookie on Twitter and it’ll be on the board in minutes

It's just for fun.
Unless it gets serious.
I recall a bookie (indy) in the Perth Rd stopping all bets on a certain manager getting the sack, not getting the job as is usual.
You were getting 8/1 but the boy said enuf is enuf.
There had been a trail of people from the Tay Bridge Bar opposite.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

What about co-managers McCulloch and Forrest.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Barry Robson's name appearing on Twitter a lot. Sheep speaking about it.

Whilst I'd prefer an experienced man like Wright if we are going with a rookie, he's the one I'd want. At least we know he gives a shit.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Of all the names mentioned I'd love Gary Holt.  Decent playing pedigree, doing wonders with Livi in a tough top league, would hopefully see us as a step up - right age for our set up, would be raising his profile if he got us to where Livi are.  With the right contract Ogren could even make money on him if he grows beyond us...

Ask them for odds on the American, Chad Hoggan.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Robinson has been given permission to speak to Northern Ireland by Motherwell. They've made it pretty clear they dont want to leave (obviously).

Can see Motherwell moving quickly for Tommy Wright if he goes.

Well i hope that Asghar has made an approach to Motherwell for permission to talk to him also. Thing is the NI interviews are this week and i doubt they are as desperate to appoint a manager as we are.

Aye, both Robinson and Wright were interviewed today for the N. I. job.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Im not 100% sure but I really doubt that there is any chance of Robinson being our manager.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Think I read the interviews were to be on Wed/Thurs for Northern Ireland job so others might be the morn and a decision/offer could be made after then. If we are after either then we will have to wait until after N. I. decide at the very least.

I like Robson, great player for us and talks a good game now. However as soon as he got that Scotland call up his head was turned and he couldn’t wait to bail out to Timothy. If any sign of success he’d be offsky. Also think we need more experience. Interesting though.

I’ve been thinking about Gary Holt also. Think he could do a good job here. So for me if it’s not Wright I think Holt would be a good shout.

That's why clubs go for ex players who definitely love the club. Gives them an extended time in many cases but very rarely works out well.

I don't know for sure who I want but that's also due to not being privy to the real applicants.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Marijo Tot the latest name linked. Croatian. Late 40s. Had multiple managers jobs in his homeland and abroad. Was also recently no2 to Slaven Bilic. Another interesting one to say the least. This manager hunt has been anything but normal.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

The Tot guy has just posted up on his Instagram story a screenshot of the courier article that says he is interested in the job. He also follows a couple of United fans pages. I guess that confirms he has applied beyond any doubt. As much as I think he looks a very interesting candidate and going by his instagram page seems to have great experience and lots of contacts within football, it just makes me nervous when someones first ever experience of Scottish football will be standing in our dugout.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

God knows who we'll get but pity help him cos he'll be out the door again pronto.
Apologies for my recurring theme but it's the truth.
It's been the fate of 14 of the last 16. The odds aren't good.
Hurry up & get this one in so we can get the next one in.
Then the next one.

Me? I'm going for Big Jon Daly

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

I've said this before. The 'Football Manager/Head Coach' model doesn't work. It's broken.

4 roles at a club would do -
I'd have a shit-hot TRAINER to maximise player fitness.
I'd have a YOUTH COACH to bring on the emerging players. Established players do not need coached.
I'd have a SCOUT to spot talent elsewhere. Old terminology but nothing wrong with the role, it worked for decades & still should.
I'd have a SELECTION group led by a carefully-appointed CAPTAIN who with the help of 2 or 3 senior players would pick the starting XI plus subs & instil BASIC tactics. The game today is totally over-complicated.

Ok, 5 roles. I'd have a MANAGER but he would be running the office, paying the bills & that sort of stuff.

Don't suppose it'll catch on though....

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

I saw on another forum that someone suggested we were looking to hire a 'manager' and not a 'head coach' with this appointment. Robbie was named head coach by Mike Martin remember.

There's nothing in it LEK.
At one of the RN Q&A in the Heggy he was asked why he was Head Coach & not Manager.
He said no reason, I just preferred the former name over the latter name. Call it what you will, Inconsequential.
Well he didn't say 'call it what you will, inconsequential'. I did
