Will tomorrow be D-Day?

In terms of whether Utd are told whether they are Champions or not?

It would seem there is to be a meeting between the SPFL and some sort of a decision will be announced.

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

Seen something on twitter that epl will be ended tomorrow. I'd imagine spfl will follow if that's true.

Cant see null and void being an option.

If that means we get promoted happy fucking days!!! Not giving a shit if folk say its tainted or whatever. Getting out this god awful league is the only thing that matters in a football sense.

I think they'll be working on a solution which gives both of the "arse cheeks" something, with little concern for other clubs.

Stop being cynical haha

Cannae believe some folk still think playing games is the way ahead. By august half the clubs might be bust. Finish the season. Declare winners and pay prize money. Start new season when possible. Ideally august.

This article lays out the options and it looks favourable for us...

They'll do what Sky, Celtic and The Rangers 2012 tell them to do.

The article doesn't mention reorganisation, which is an option.

It's taken me an age to accept that that games might not be played, to be fair to you, early on you were saying the league would probably be curtailed.

I cannae stop being a cynic though.

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

From the BBC gossip column...

The Scottish Professional Football League may test the water by declaring this season over in the Championship, League One and League Two - but defer a decision on the Premiership - with governing body Uefa preferring leagues across Europe to wait and see if seasons can be played to a finish after the coronavirus shutdown. Sorry B+T but that doesn't make any sense. You are saying by August half the clubs could be bust but then suggest the new season should start in August.

So it would seem your main concern is clubs getting their prize money, yes?

Why not push for that instead then? The SPFL could do that this week if they wanted too. Could pay the clubs out NOW on their respective league placing. Finish the leagues and then readjust the figures at the end of next season. Either giving the respective clubs a bit more (if they finished a bit higher up) or deduct an amount (if they actually finished lower).

All this could happen if they just scrapped Betfred group stages and winter break.

Don't let them tell you otherwise.

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

I was looking forward to a party at Tannadice, but things being the way they are, if this is the way we get the title, then so be it.

In saying that, I would hope the Club would have some kind of Open Day before the start of next Season.

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

Promotion without having 'Champions Winners' listed in our honours like it's an achievement, no mugs, flags, coasters, tea towels, t-shirts, tammies, socks, dressing gowns, pens or badges produced by the club to commemorate it.

Where do I sign up?

"Don't F*cking ever offer me that again!"

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

Get teams to vote this through (it's a more complicated voting system than one club one vote) while allowing the Premiership teams to decide on the fate of the lower three leagues, which is quite wrong, and there will then be the promise, to clubs affected by relegation and lack of play-offs, of reorganisation.

See: "the Ibrox club have been lobbying behind the scenes for Ladbrokes Premiership reserve teams to be introduced to the senior set-up in Scotland".

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

Very good statement tonight from Partick Thistle.

"Following today’s SPFL announcement, Partick Thistle FC will simply not accept this proposal as it stands. We believe that the proposal requires significantly more discussion, scrutiny and debate before any vote can be taken. We are now engaging with others to amend the proposal to identify a fairer and more equitable solution to address a number of inequalities it throws up.At an unprecedented time for football, we believe that it doesn’t meet the basic principle that no club should be left worse off by this important decision".

Particulary this 👇 final part of their statement.

"It also seems to link acceptance of the proposal before payments can be made to hard-pressed clubs but, in our opinion, the two things do not need to be linked. Money to clubs is a priority, the proposal could be debated in slower time".

Bang-on the money that, for me.

The SPFL and Doncaster are holding a gun to clubs heads. Whereby they either vote for their proposals or they receive NO money for months. This to me is a disgrace. There is nothing to stop clubs getting that vital money NOW. Nothing at all.

For folk who a
re gladly welcoming a dangerous precedent being set here based on their dislike of Ian McCall, i'd say this.

It could be us getting stiffed at a later date and we won't have a leg to stand on after this.

Makes perfect sense. Why do you see the necessity to finish the god damn league?,

We dont know when games will start getting played again.

So finish season now , pay prize money and start afresh.  Then we can start a new season

I've missed 2 league games in this shit league since weve been relegated. I want out now. Not hanging on not knowing what's happening til the summer months

'Why do you see the necessity to finish the god damn league?,'.

Because to do anything else creates the clusterfuck we're about to see unfold.

Again, if it's just about prize money the SPFL could sort that this very week if they wanted too.

They could have handed over the prize money already in fact. And should have.

Re: Will tomorrow be D-Day?

Sevco (surprisingly) asking that.

1) The season be finished
2) The SPFL prize monies be released now to ALL member clubs.

Can't believe i'm saying this but this is actually a good statement from them.
