Any of the older Arabs visit Cathkin Park when Third Lanark were on the go?
Took a wee drive over Hampden way today and dropped in, some of it has stood the test of time well. Terraces a good bit back from the pitch but it must have been a decent sized stadium in its day, perhaps about 20000.

Only saw them playing away, at Ochilview, winning 2-0 in front of a 'crowd' of 155 (!!!). This was April 1967.
After that match they played 4 more, then were dissolved (league membership was lost in June '67). Six seasons before they had finished third in the top league.
Many times I've been at a Scotland match and I've looked in to Cathkin, wondering what it would have been like during a big match. Thirds last ever match, a 3-3 draw v QoS, only brought in 325 spectators.
The record at Cathkin was 45,455 v Rangers in 1954. It was originally the second Hampden Park, home of Queen's Park until 1903.

Thanks Pat, I found it quite eerie with the old terracing and the towering trees.
Strange to think of the attendances you quote for a now defunct club and how they never survived in some format.
Here’s hoping there’s no more Third Lanark’s although it will be a tough few months coming up.

My Dad was a Third Lanark fan, used to go to every home game. I asked him once if he wanted to visit Cathkin with me, he just said no because it would make him too sad.
Hopefully no other clubs go through this due to the coronavirus.

Been to Cathkin Park a couple of times for a walkabout the old stands and pitch.
It is indeed quite an eerie experience.
