Who knows?
Robbie may be trying 'mind games'. But if he keeps the same defence as the last two game failures, I'll be asking for the bus to get turned around before we reach Dundee.
On another note, what happens if Jamie Robson is fit, Liam Smith plays right back, yet he keeps Siegrist, Brown and Reynolds as their partners? Many folk thought Robson wasn't up to it not so long ago, he won't return and be a saviour I fear.

Time to give Spörle a chance.

So as was predicted in the summer we are left short due to injuries and its not even the end of October!
Sporle needs to start at left back. Smith needs to start at right back.
Central defence is a fucking ball ache but i would go with Butcher and Reynolds.
Siegrist
Smith
Butcher
Reynolds
Sporle
Stanton
harkes
McMullan
Appere
C Smith
Shankland

Will Pawlett be fit for Saturday?
Think Pep said on the zone Thursday he will train. So look forward to seeing Pawlett back in the squad for the Dundee game at home in December.

Ryan Dow will have a field day against Sporle or Smith at left back.

If we start we smith at left back em staying in the boozer

Changed my mind for team
Benji
L Smith brown Reynolds
Mcmullan Stanton butcher sporle
Smith
Clark shankland
3412, could also do smith RWB with Watson going centre half and sticking mcmullan up top with shankland
Offline
I don't think Appere deserves to be dropped, one of the very few to get pass marks against QotS.

Pep said yesterday that Clark would get some game time in the reserve match against St Mirren which he did, I doubt he will be near ready to start as of yet. Sub for him this Saturday.

The boy has undoubtedly done well and a lot better than we could have hoped for in the Summer. In fact most of us probably never expected him to even be part of our first team this season.
But on the flipside = only 2 goals in 18 appearances. And no goals at all in 2 months.
That's not a dig at the boy btw. Not at all. But we can't just rely on Shankland for goals.
Maybe time for more experienced men like Nicky Clark and Cammy Smith to come back into the first team and just bring on young Louis from the bench to run at tired legs.

Last sentance I definately I agree with.
His progression needs protected in a sense and maximised.

if Left Back is such an issue (and clearly it is) why not call up our second string LB? A youngster playing in his natural position.
Could be a risk.
As an aside, Reynolds has played LB before.cant we get an emergency loan
They scrapped the emergency loan system last season mate.
Dundee signed a keeper emergency loan today

Emergency loans are for goalkeepers only now.

I'd play a 4-4-2. Get back to basics and just have a go at them. Try and play on the front foot as much as possible and play the game in the opposition half, exactly the same as we did against albeit a poor Morton team a few weeks ago.
benji
smith troy reynolds sporle (no ideal at fb but worth another try after recent performances).
mcmullan butch harkes pawlett
smith (clark if fit) shankland
hopefully if we are playing the game in opposition half then the full backs, particularly sporle can get forward and put balls in the box to feed the strikers. Still frustrated when you have a striker like that who isn't getting the service he needs. Fingers crossed we can get a few other names on the scoresheet aswell. Appere to come on off the bench, hes been a good player but will take time to mature and will have off days.

I'd put Mehmet in goals for next week, Smith right back, and be concerned about the central defence no matter who was available. Let's say Butcher and Watson, although both are right footed. Robson left back. If unfit, Sporle.
I'm stuck as to who should be in midfield. Think of the rest later.
Updating my own post from a few days ago, and keeping in mind the players that are out:
Mehmet
L Smith Butcher Watson Sporle
C Smith Harkes Clark
McMullan Shankland Appere
I'm struggling for midfielders, but Robbie shouldn't be, as he signed much of the squad. It won't be anywhere close to that team anyway.
Another thing: I think Adam King, signed on a three year contract, played under Robbie as a right back at times for Hearts development team in season 2013-14.

Interesting formation. Could be good if it worked plus maybe Butcher had a role between that and into the midfield at times and Clark & Appere plus maybe McMullen could interchange positions.

The match later on tonight at Somerset will possibly have a bearing on our psychology going into Saturday too.
If Ayr draw or win they go top and we slip off the top of the table for the first time since day 1 of the season (even if it is just for a few hours).
Would be very interesting to see how we react to that i.e. come out on Saturday angry and all guns blazing or look nervy and scared to lose the first goal.

If they come out nervy and scared they will lose the first goal.

It gets Stanton and Reynolds and the keeper out so tick from me. Ian Harkss does not look like a player to me though. Certainly not with the required dig and steel.

Now that the Fun have beaten Ayr and kept us top, is it all set up for our inability to take advantage tomorrow (as per usual)?
