Much changed team now with so many departures. Should open up more opportunities for the youngsters. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if there is sufficient quality in there.
Neither Frans, Aird or Sow played in last weeks game in Hamilton mate.
Think the team will be very similiar. Maybe even the exact same, as we don't really have other options.
Noted Tek. I see Matty Smith is in the line up. Different Matty Smith or back from Cove already?

Great turnaround from last week's defeat to the same side at the same venue.
Finished 4-2 to United, a couple of late concessions including a penalty.

Seeing as no-one answered my query - rephrasing it. Is Matty Smith still playing reserves for us but for Cove on a Saturday?

Aye it is. Boys on loan can play for the reserves. Accies had a couple of players fielded today who are out at other clubs.

Louie Appéré played for our reserves last season whilst playing for Broughty. Was often playing 3 times a week. Look at how fit it has got him.
Maybe Utd trying to go down the same route with Matty Smith.

Back in action at 2pm later today against Morton away.

Will Troy Brown be playing do you reckon in order to get his fitness levels up?

I would like to think he will start for this reason

Hefty 7-0 defeat.
To be fair to the team selected, the average age was much younger than the Greenock side, who included two players with over first team 300 games between them. Still a poor result.
Robbie Muirhead, Jackie's £150,000 signing in 2015, got one of the goals.

Piss poor result.
As an aside. Who actually is our Reserve Team Manager?
And also why play basically the U18 team exclusively? Throwing them to the Wolves. Have guys like Deniz Mehmet, Paul Watson, Adrian Spörle, Logan Chalmers, Troy Brown, Nicky Clark and Cammy Smith who are in need of game time.
Thought Utd had wised up to this. Obviously not.

Who was hunting a scapegoat?
I simply commented that we have a number of fringe men needing game time and the U18 team getting twatted does them no good.
Common sense, really.

Agree with tek here .
The reserve league is the ideal opportunity for boys like brown sporle etc to get much needed game time.

I thought the u18s got thrown under a bus today. The whole point of reserve football is to have the young players play alongside journeymen pros so they can learn the game more. Getting humped by a team of men does nothing for their development.

Maybe we've got a few injury worries and these boys are on standby for the first team?

Lets hope not.

To me there’s 2 sides to reserve football. 1- getting fringe players games/keeping them sharp and 2- developing young players into first team players.
Getting a team of kids papped 7-0 by Morton doesn’t help either of those.

We’ve no got a massive squad why risk them in a reserve game at cappilow when we need abdy for sat, pointless argument

The point some are making is that players could use outings in a reserve game to gain match fitness. Another issue is allowing young players to become disheartened by a harsh defeat.
