Read a few times some Utd fans saying he was our worst ever Keeper.
I must confess he played the season before I started seeing Utd regulary i.e. (going to games on my own without my Dad). But I do remember this game where he was tbh outstanding.
Simple question.
Who for you was Utd's 'Worst Ever Goalie'?
Just ONE answer.

Jorgensen

O' Hanlon isn't even close to worst for me. Paul Jarvie in my opinion. There are others who only played one or two games so never got a proper chance. Jarvie got a run and was utterly atrocious, literally throwing the ball into the net against Motherwell after catching a tame shot from Jim Patterson [i think] and the infamous nutmeg at dens

Agree with that. Yeah jorgensen was terrible but only made 2 starts . Jarvie had a few more games and was just shite non stop.
Scott Thomson never played for us again after a horror showing in a 4-3 defeat at dens opening the door for Main

There’s been a few, but the absolute worst - Szromnik
Online!
Can he play left wing

Lars Hirschfield.
From memory, we conceded 8 goals in 90 minutes of football with him playing in goal, 4 in second half away to motherwell, 4 in first half away to killie in the game where boyd scored 5
Fair point that he never got a run of games, unlike some other bad keepers like Jarvie or O'Hanlon. Lance Key also worth a shout.

Can’t be many more disastrous than Szromnik or Zwick, going into the season with they two fighting it out for the number 1 position is a big part of why we got relegated.
Pound-for-pound though, the worst has to be Kawashima, the three months we spent waiting on him plus the exorbitant wages we sounded on him, only for him to turn out to be no much better than Cagney & Lacey, puts him in the number 1 spot for me.

Lance Key or Szromnik worst imho
O'Hanlon was absolutely shite as well though.

Fair enough but we didn't spend 3 months waiting on him. United's amateur operation couldn't organise the paperwork for him. A quick bit of googling would have given all the information required

I know you stipulated only one answer, Tek, but I cannae split Lance Key and Paul Jarvie. Both absolutely howlin.
These guys made the 'more than possible' look damn near impossible. Loupin!

O Handless was the worst that played 40 plus games or so closely followed by Stillie. Szromnik Zwick Jarvie Key and Jourgensen and some Canadian boy that played once were genuinely awful and was last seasons first goalie and Kawashima....Seagrist has not convinced me yet either....

Could it be Pat Onstad that's the Canadian goalie you're referring to, Peligro?

Either him or Hirschfeld?

Hmmm, might be Hirschfeld. He was beyond stinkin.
I actually cannae mind if Onstad even played a game for the club.

Dont think Onstad did play a 1st team game.
Hirschfield played in 2.

This topic cant pass without the mention of Euan Mclean. He only played a few games around 15 years ago but absolutely abysmal. Remember losing at home to Gretna with him in the goal and stuart Duff at CH. Shudder.
I never liked Paul Gallacher. Thought he was at the root of a lot of our problems at the time. McCall bombed him out in his first game then Alan Combe got himself sent off!
Edit to say, if we'd had someone of Gallacher's standard in 2015/16, we probably would have stayed up.

All about opinions GC2. But i thought Gallacher was a decent Goalie (just like his old man).
He even got a couple of Scotland caps (and done well in those games too iirc).
I always felt he wasn't commanding enough and the defence felt they had to sit deep. Out of the keepers who played a lot of games for us, I feel he is one of the weakest.

GC2, you're probably right about if Gallacher had been with us in 2015-16, things possibly turning out differently. But we would have gone down the next year, most likely, for as a club United were in a downward spiral.
But Paul Gallacher wouldn't have been in my top five, maybe even ten, worst goalkeepers at the club (that should really be bottom ten).
Kelham 'Head it away' O'Hanlon gives me the most bad memories.

Tony Bullock was far worse than Gallacher. The definition of a bang average journeyman keeper.

And still way better than 4 or 5 at least of the last 5 years keepers....

The fact Paul Gallacher is mentioned in this thread is utterly baffling. Without doubt one of the better keepers we’ve had.
