Partick Thistle v Dundee Utd 09/08/2019

Looking forward to this on Friday night. Hopefully our Friday evening TV bad luck is behind us.
Thistle seem to be having a lot of off field problems that hopefully will have an effect on them come kick off.

I can see a good support travelling through so hopefully we are heading home happy.

Unchanged line up for me try and keep it going.
Think we will see Pawlett on the bench this week?

We had a thumping home win to start, thistle are in absolute turmoil.
It worries me tbh.

Same team and more importantly same attacking attitude a must.

If we come out with the same fighting spirit I reckon we'll do them. Shankland to score again.

c'mon United.

Re: Partick Thistle v Dundee Utd 09/08/2019

Regarding the Thistle chaos, it might be that the turmoil stirs the players into being a more solid unit, fighting for each other.

They might be a more difficult prospect than our fans may imagine, and Caldwell, who I don’t particularly rate as a manager, is undefeated this season, and unbeaten in two games last season against us.

However, our players must have taken encouragement from the team performance on Saturday, and I'm expecting a win.

Finally, mind it's a 7:05 kick off, a bit of a rush to get there.

Re: Partick Thistle v Dundee Utd 09/08/2019

Partick went with a back 3 away at Alloa on Sat. Looked like a 3-4-3.

They’ll surely do the same. We will get space to attack them in wide positions (like Dunfermline in the first half on Friday there)

Saying that, Caldwell might go to a 4, and double up on Shankland.

Hate 5 past 7 kickoffs. Few folk that normally go on my bus cant because need to leave a wee bit earlier.
Ach, least we'll get last orders when back in Dundee.

I'd like to see Banks playing instead of McMullan and Pawlett on instead of Clark. We desperately need more creativity in midfield and McMullan and Clark are both very poor

I cant see Pawlett starting. He may not even be back in the squad. We have a history of rushing back players lets hope we dont continue doing so.

Is Sporle injured or just no good enough? Also, if it’s Partick then surely we’ll have to wear an away kit which we’ve no even revealed yet!

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Pretty poor it's not even been unveiled yet. Surely they would have had to register an away kit with the league before the start of the season.

It's the SFA each club must register their colours with: for this season we have registered an all black away outfit.

SPFL Pat. Rule G30. Must be registered by June1st.
Also the first and 2nd choice kits cant clash so dont know how that works with black shorts for both kits.

Cheers, b&t.

The SFA handbook for 2019-20  https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/media/5422/scottish-fa-handbook-2019-20.pdf
has us in all black for this season (page 14).

The SPFL website doesn't, as far as I can see, list our kit choices, but their updated page for us shows Archie Thomas, Billy King, Brett Long and Cameron Ballantyne as our first four listed players!

Not sure about that. We looked like scoring every time we went forward on Saturday.

Re: Partick Thistle v Dundee Utd 09/08/2019

I'm a fan of Banks and Pawlett too but there is no way that I'm changing that winning team from Saturday.

Granted, I'm not Neilson, but I'll be surprised if he makes any changes for Friday, unless someone is injured.

I like your zero tolerance stance to perceived negative tactics Du Peligro.   😂😂

We have a team and a striker than can attack teams. Just fucking do it Robbie!
Or we bring someone in who will attack...

I wouldn't be surprised if Neilson has maybe been 'advised' that we should be playing two up front this season.   🤔

Re: Partick Thistle v Dundee Utd 09/08/2019

Hello all, long time reader, first time poster.

Living in the south west of England now, my day to day info about United comes from forums mainly.

With that, and seeing last weeks result, I wouldn't change a thing, let the team bed more and develop it that way. I'd keep a wee eye on Clark though, but it seemed he did ok in his slightly newer role.

I'd try and not factor Partick's off field scene into the game, stick to the plan from last week and adapt from there.

Just anticipating the "away tactic" we need to play all games like last week. On the front foot from the off.

Agree with this. It came totally out of the blue. Or young Louis ignored instructions to play deeper....

Somebody said this on another Utd forum: 'I reckon the Yanks have told Neilson to stop fucking about.'
