Re: Most Emotional Track Ever - Round 2/Game 6

Thanks for the numbers Mr C.

The 5th game of Round 2 witnessed victory registered for "Always On My Mind" the Elvis Presley cover of the Willie Nelson penned song. This victory will ensure it progresses through to the Quarter Final stage of the tournament. Eliminated at this stage of the tournament is the defeated track 'You've Got a Friend' by Carole King.

Round 2/Game 6 -

Glenn Campbell - By The Time I Get To Phoenix

Released - 23rd October 1967
Written By - Jimmy Webb
Songs Background - The inspiration for "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" originated in Jimmy Webb's break-up
with Susan Horton. They remained friends even after her marriage to Bobby Ronstadt, a cousin of singer Linda Ronstadt. Their relationship, which peaked in mid-1965, was also the primary influence for "MacArthur Park", another Webb composition.

Luciano Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma

Released - 1990
Written By - Giacomo Puccini
Songs Background - "Nessun Dorma" is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera 'Turandot'.

Although "Nessun Dorma" has long been a staple of operatic recitals, Luciano Pavarotti
popularized the piece beyond the opera world in the 1990s following his performance of it for the 1990 Football World Cup, which captivated a global audience.  Both Pavarotti and Placido Domingo released singles of the aria, with Pavarotti reaching number 2 in the UK that same Summer.

Voting Closes Later Today (Thursday 1st August) AT 10PM
