All in it was actually a decent performance missed out loads of players but they were standouts

My take on today was that it was one of the most pre-season games I’ve ever seen.  Wouldn’t read anything into it tbh.

We still need first choice players in tho, 5 at least, that much is obvious.

Even someone who’s scored as regularly as Shankland would struggle to score a lot in this setup and I think changing it is far more important than any potential signings.

 
You don’t necessarily need to change the system, but if we’re going to play it we need to sign players who can play it.

 
You require a standard of player that is almost impossible to acquire at this level despite the significant investment from the owners.

That’s not true either, there’s loads of ways to play 4231.  IF we’re going to play it I want an attacking direct 4231, with the 1 never dropping off like Sow was doing today.  To play the slow passing, walk the ball in the net 4231 we’ve been attempting then yes you are correct.

Whatever the system it’s got to be about getting the best from your best attacking options.  Always play a system that suits your best players, don’t demand a system and try and squeeze folk into it is the way I see it.
