I've noticed a few folk not posting any more, although they at times show up as being online here.
Thinking of annanarab, shedboy and wylie1 (Leedsy) but there are others.
I'm sure these posters still have something to contribute, even if it's to say why they aren't posting.
And going further back, posters like Foo Kin Twat or stobievulture.... what happened?

Foo Kin stopped posting a couple of year ago.
Because of circumstances whereby Footymad was down for a long time, he'd received a fair bit of 'abuse' from temporary Tekel Towers Members who had joined Tekel Towers because Footymad was down.
Once Footymad was repaired, these folk themselves have'na posted since and no longer post.
Got a couple if Emails from him explaining. Fine lad.

I’ve no posted for ages, just time wise for me, I’ve popped on and quickly read others but just got out the way of regular posts. I’ll maybe get back to it a bit more if I can.

Wish he'd get back on here posting: save him sending me a lot of pish on What's App

You get back posting, Mass Debates: the greater variety of opinions, the better!

I stopped posting on here, still keep an eye on it from time to time.
I felt the forum is very cliquey to be honest. Often I would post something and no one would reply directly, so no conversation occurring from what I was posting.
Couple of times certain regular posters would repeat parts of what I'd posted in their own posts on the same thread!
Its probably not what you want to hear but you have to ask yourself why so many posters register, post for a while then don't bother any more. It seems like a wee club for about 7/8 of you.
Most posters want a wee bit of conversation, banter, feedback on their thoughts, but it's in short supply here.
Not trying to be negative for the sake of it but you asked the question.

Thanks for that: I recall you posting a similar query some time back regarding folk posting, and never realised some posters thought of the place as 'cliquey'.
I'm wondering how to overcome that issue, as I never felt I was part of a clique, or dismissive of other posters.
Apologies if you feel that has been the case, and I hope you get back to posting.

To be fair I'd had a few bevvies one night, realised I was "talking to myself " a lot of the time, had a wee hissy and posted that goodnight from me nonsense! So kinda regretted the way I left in such a cryptic way (don't know if others picked up on that)
I'm not expecting to be centre of attention far from it but I do think I've nailed the reason why so many register then stop posting.
If you read United mad for example and I know it has its faults, new posters or occasional posters are welcomed into the conversations by the regular posters something I feel doesn't happen here. You will probably be aware of the clique of regular posters here that I'm referring to and until you guys engage properly with new posters this forum will remain the home of less than a dozen. You only have to look at the index of members and the number of posts they made before lapsing to see that.
On the plus side the stuff that does get posted can be interesting at times and I'll keep viewing it from time to time.

Long time reader going to games and other platforms such as Facebook (Arab anonymous can make you want to not contribute) means I feel I’ve contributed to Untied discussion a plenty before even setting foot on a forum so tend to read only but will post if I feel the need to do so.

I personally post on here much more than elsewhere since I registered and if cliqueyness is an issue on here then it could get pretty much every other forum shut down.
Whenever anyone disagrees with someone on here it usually seems to result in a civil debate from what I’ve seen.
On EastFootball and FootyMad there seems to be groups of posters who’ve taken a dislike to certain other posters and will slander them at any opportunity regardless if they’ve made a valid point.
This forum is far superior to all other united forums I feel, just not as many posts on here as on others.

Thankfully I’ve been banned from Arabs Anonymous. Pretty certain it’s run by a guy (or guys) who keep making new excuses as to why they don’t go to games and ban people who disagree with them.

Surprised to read RMS saying he feels the Forum is a 'closed shop', so to speak. That is entirely the opposite of what i wanted for this Forum when i started it.
Me personally, i always try to Welcome new posters to the Forum and value their posts just as much as the next man.
The more you post the more responses you probably do get. But that is really only because fellow posters feel like by that time they have a rapport with you, so to speak. This is true of every Football Forum i've ever read.
It doesn't really bother me that the Forum is quiet at times. I still enjoy reading the posts from the regular contributors (and the not so regular contributors).
There are a few posters i would like to see post again, but to coin an old proverb 'you can lead a Horse to water, but you can't make it drink it'.
If people feel like posting, they'll post. If not, that's fine too. They may just prefer reading the site.
I have said all along though, that this Forum will only be as good as the posters who use it.

Kind of agree with RMS here. I do find that sometimes my posts are made into a vacuum and ignored, but I've got a pretty thick skin. There is definitely an in-squad, probably not quite a clique. I do think this is better than other boards in that respect however. That said, you do feel the views of the in-squad are treated as more important than others, even when, in my view, they are sometimes less interesting than some of those on the periphery. Perhaps the odd quote of or reply to some of the outsiders might make them feel included. For me, as I said I'm pretty thick skinned so I actually don't give a damn if you agree with me or not...!!

there could be a different angle to this - united's current status
after the st mirren game I tried to avoid any kind of football for as long as possible, i still check in here occasionally for any big news like signings or manager changes, I just leave quickly if there is no news
only ever been an occasional poster, however could this apply to some more frequent posters?
I think it's a bit of a leap from getting no replies to a post, to saying the forum is "cliquey"
Possibly your post was just boring
That was a joke, by the way...
I post sporadically and haven't posted much in the last year or so because I wasn't at many games. I read every day though...
Another thought - what I like about this forum is that it's just Arabs, talking about United. Most other main forums are part of a network so you'll always get fans of other clubs coming on for "banter". Maybe some posters miss that side of it? I certainly don't miss slavering dees or huns and their pishy opinions

I haven’t used any forum since the St mirren game. Around Betfred Cup time it’ll give people something to talk about Instead of rumours.

Tbh I've not posted as much for a while because of similar thoughts to RMS. I tend to put more on Twitter these days though.
I don't post on East Football but do look in on occasion. The Utd part of the forum has been completely derailed by one poster (Tangerine Mujahadeen) who appears to be a dog with a bone, a shit stirrer, a sociopath and a professional victim all rolled into one. Hardly anyone posts on Mad these days. This place probably has more traffic than it does now.

You're 100% wrong about UnitedMad. Its doing fine and has more active threads and variety of posters than this forum. By some distance, just have a look for yourselves.
I would say that one of the main differences is that non United posts here get punted to the lesser teams forum and as a result get little attention and very few replies. Which imo is a bit boring unless you just want to watch the main forum here which can go from morning to night with nothing posted some days.
I completely understand that using the word clique in regard to this forum is not going to sit well with some posters but I'm just saying how it felt to me. Again I would say until the regular 7/8 engage with new posters and respond to/value their contributions they'll stop posting. Again as said earlier the evidence is here on the page, just click on the user list and scroll through it and you have your answer.
I'm not trying to have a pop at the forum, the people who use it like it so that's fine by me. Just feedback don't shoot the messenger lads.

Theres certainly no clique on here. Can not think of a more ridiculous thing to say.
Maybe folk just dont like your posts rms.

That's your opinion mate and your entitled to it. Its definitely not a ridiculous thing to say though because some have more or less agreed with me. The ability to accept feedback and see yourself as others see you is a good thing surely? I wont waste your time posting any more though.

You can do whatever you want. I find it pretty sad you think that though.

I am always open to constructive criticism on here and would consider myself to be pretty thick skinned. But i do find some of the comments about 'cliques' etc to be a bit off and a wee bit dissapointing if i'm honest.
RMS you seem unhappy that your posts were being dismissed or you weren't getting enough feedback or whatever. I offered you the chance to do a Fans Q+A on here just 2 months ago (this is when you still frequently posted) and you turned down my offer. Fair enough. They're not for everyone, but given your comments now i do find that a bit strange. Was the perfect platform for you to put across your points and get replies and tell us a bit more about you.
You also around that time were very praiseworthy of myself and the Forum in private correspondance.
Also to say Utd Mad has more variety of posts/posters i find bizarre. I have nothing against that site at all btw. But on here we have had Q+A with Utd legends, current players, Utd employees, Fan Q+A's, Music competitions, DUFC competitions, film competitions, Random great Scottish matches thread, WYOWYN threads, endless posts about politics, music, tv, films, etc etc etc.
There is a fraction of that content on Mad.
It might get more posts a day or whatever (i really don't know), but as i said before i am ok with the hits this site does get. It's always quiet during the close season.

Ach, come on guys. There's no a clique oe any description on here, and there never has been.
I was looking to join a United Forum funnily enough aboot the time Tekel Towers had just started. (mid 2014 ).
Had been looking at / reading at couple oe other anes. Footymad was the main 1, but at the time IIRC there seemed to be IMO what I would call internal battles going on between Members, so after reading Tekel Towers I decided to join.
There there was only aboot 40 odd members when I joined.
I honestly canna see how there could be a clique, well no withoot fowk actually kennin ane another - personally I mean. Me for one, well Eh dinna ken anybody on here, no personally anyweh. Like me, the closest maist fowk on here would come to that would be getting an occasional PM fae another Forum Member.
