Great exposure for the lassies game. Stadiums might be full, just under a million tickets sold so far. 3 good goals in the opener & it's only half-time.
Told my wee lassie to remember this as the start of something, wee laddie too.
Tough opener for oor lassies v engerland on Sunday.

Quite looking to watching the Scotland games I must confess.
Strange feeling to watch your country play football and feel quietly confident.

Shitey VAR pen but like what we've had lately. Hard to take especially as VAR didn't look at the similar hand ball that blocked our clearance in the box and set up what turned out to be the winner.
English now congratulating the crowd for chanting VAR when they needed it. Hope VAR decisions are not influenced by crowds in future.
A strikers hand ball in the box was easier to ignore but less easy if the stadium went nuts about it. VAR has a long way to go before looking at what circumstances should only be considered.

Beaten by a better team.
But very good effort from our girls.

Caught the 2nd half. Surprised at how confident in posession Scotland were but also felt the front two were almost non-existant. The lassie Emslie looked a player though. England looked functional at best.

England have gone into this with the, "We are are going to win this" claims. I'll be surprised it they do.

It’s been a decent watch so far. England have no chance of winning it, France are miles better.
VAR is shite.

While we all might say it's not a penalty the new laws state it is one. Better get used to seeing attackers aim for defenders hands now.

Thought the lassies did their nation proud. Some great wee players in oor team. Enjoyed watching it and looking forward to seeing Scotland again. (FFS did I just say that)
No comment on the Engurlish or their media coverage, apart from ABE.

Does anyone fancy the Americans to win it this year, I know that while they have scored a lot so far the quality of defending they have faced has been very poor.
While it was only 3 against Chile today I think if it had been a lot more then it would not have been unfair as I felt Chile looked very poor at the back especially at set pieces.
I wonder if the Americans can look as threatening against the higher quality sides you would consider to also be serious candidates to win the tournament.

They are the best in the world and papped Japan in the last final so reckon it’ll be them and France (if the draw allows.)

South Africa might be the dirtiest team going by their game against Germany I'm watching.

Hope the Scotland women's team can get a good win over Argentina tonight to give themselves a chance of getting out the group tonight in a game that will not be easy.
I am not sure if a win alone is enough to go through or if they need other results to be favourable as well.

C'mon the Lassies!

Just seen the score and how the game unfolded.
You have to laugh.
Peak Scotland.

Lassies have been gubbed by some fkn horrific refereeing and VAR decisions that are hard to take to another fucking level.
Same old hard luck story aye, but fucking rediculous impact by VAR penalties given and not received, ref decisions and an overall clusterfuck of impacts outside the teams control. I've followed the mens team all over Europe and seen us loose and fail for all sorts of reasons but mainly fitba reasons. Oor lassies have been at the end of some hard to take very different decisions that seem very, very unfair.
If consistant, fair enough but oor lassies have not had any form of consistancy in this World Cup.

Just seen the VAR/ref decisions.
They have been unbelievably harshly treated for the 3rd game in a row.
See considering nothing much was expected of Scotland's Ladies team in this World Cup, I think they have acquitted themselves well.
But for better refereeing they could have had a chance at progression. These were all crucial calls against them.
They should be proud of their efforts at their inaugural World Cup though. Narrowly beaten by two of the best teams in Woman's football in England and Japan and should have beaten Argentina.

I'm beginning to think VAR is going to be a disaster for football.
I think it was a pen., but there should be a rule that if it takes more than a minute to figure out then it should go in the favour of the defending team. The real issue was the inexperience of the officials around the substitution. Although I think that all could have been influenced with our blatant time wasting which definitely went against us. Never like to see that.
That and the first save would have stood without VAR as there was no way a ref would have spotted the infringement - not exactly blatant.

I would agree with this, on the games I have seen it in would say not particularly impressed with it. The first time I payed much attention to it was the Confederations Cup in 2017 and felt that it did not really help things.
The biggest problem is have is the time that it takes for the incident to be reviewed and whatever information to relay back to the ref to be reached and then further delay if the ref goes over to the screen.
I may be mistaken but I seem to recall there was still a few contentious decision reached in Russia 2018 even with the use of VAR.
Technology may have its place in the game but I still have to be 100% convinced about the benefits and use of VAR.

As a former hockey player and occasional hockey umpire I also watch a fair bit of hockey on tv. They have a system that seems to work incredibly well so why did football consider that it needed to do something different? One of the big differences is stopping the clock - how can football not achieve that - not difficult - they've got enough officials,

Whilst VAR didn’t help our ladies, that is a catastrophic bottle job.
If that was the men I’d be bloody raging and am really disappointed for the ladies.

Cant believe the praise the Scotland teams getting. They finished last in their group.

I think they've had more support, appreciation and sympathy than praise. They have been critisised and taken apart from managerial tactics to individual performances by many too B&T.
They've definately had an overall less critical time than the mens team would have had but that's a lot to do with folk wanting to promote and give a chance to girls & wumins fitba as it's easily knocked down by many bud. Alot of all the afore mentioned is a reaction to years of ridicule, disrespect and a lack of involvement, appreciation and support.
