Let's be honest , since gauld left United his career has went stagnant. As JD says above staying in Portugal isn't going to help him.

Looks like that’s the end of that one then.
Think a move back here would be better for Gauld and his future in the long term. All these moves to Non-descript Portuguese teams isn’t going to do his international chances any good. Think he’d do well to come back here for a couple of years and get his name back in the picture then get a good move down south, every year he spends in Portugal is another year spent in anonymity as far as the eyes of British football is concerned.
If he's on loan then he's still presumably on his current pay rate which he might not be keen to forgo.
Honestly can't see him being interested in coming back anyway as in any interviews with him he seems happy in Portugal and likes the lifestyle...and one look out the window today would suggest yet another reason for not coming back.
It'd be good to get him but imo it's never going to happen.

Depends what he’s looking for I suppose, if he’s happy living his life in the sun, with no pressure and no real spotlight on him, while earning a half decent wage in Lisbon, then fair enough, there’s no problem with that.
However, if he’s looking for international recognition and the chance to eventually make silly money like he could down south, then staying in Portugal means he’s out of sight and out of mind as far as both are concerned.
Say what you want about United and the level we’re at, but if we make it up to the Premier League, and Gauld was to really shine for us, due to our great history, and track record of developing young players, the name Dundee United still commands respect down south and in the eyes of the Scotland manager, a lot more so than some Portuguese also-ran.
I have no idea what Ryan Gauld is looking for out of his football career, but if I were his agent, I’d be advising him to cut his losses in Portugal and get his name back in the picture in the UK, he’s still young enough to go on to have a great career over here, but the longer he hides in the Portuguese backwaters, the more those chances diminish.

Agree with a lot of the points here about Gauld but to be fair that team came 6th in the Portuguese Premier League last season so they are not a bad team

Which to me would mean he might not necessarily be a definite starter.
The wee man will be 24 soon. He needs to start playing for someone every week if his career is gonna progress as it should.
If i were him i'd be wanting to win things too, not spend the rest of my career with teams who will only finish mid-table etc.
One good year at Utd get's him a good move to a big team.

Hopefully means we won’t have paid his entire salary then.

Fae what I can find he's an attacking midfielder who's main position is CM but can play left and right wing.
Turns 25 in November, played for 7 teams, started at Real Betis.
Some footage fae a vid made in April...
Don't think yid sign him based on the footage. Glad we have him at the High Performance Centre furra a looky instead of dain a Youfkntube purchase😉
Doesn't have a high market value. Highest was £150,000.
Right footed.
Glad to see we are trying far and wide and hope he's a crackin signing as I suspect that if we've(Tony Asghar) leaked this to the Record it's on the cards.
If he signs I don't think we will be spending much on wages.

We don't need to offload him. Nonsense from the sun.
Stevie May was a backup if we didn't get Shankland. Be surprised if we approached his agent.
We have Ganet on trial, good player, hope we sign him.
Deniz signed 2 year deal- GK's sorted.
Sign Ganet, another winger and maybe a striker on loan and we'd be sorted.

I’d be very much against getting rid of sow , looked sharp and fast at east fife, he’s a completely different option to Clark and shankland, and stevie may has been awful for last few years, however has Stevie may not been playing number 10 for Aberdeen, so is he maybe being looked at for that position??

Also apparently billy kings brother is on trial seen on Twitter, not sure how true

This. I love how loads oh folk on Twitter and forums say they've seen players when in reality they maybe had them on football manager 🤣🤣
Not saying this is true with everyone btw but certainly seems to be the case with a lot of people.

Would much rather have Sow than May but the family stand boo boys have already selected him as their chosen target which won’t do him much good next season.

Said before and will say again.
I hope there is nothing in the Stevie May rumours.
He is completely washed up.

Since Stevie May signed for Aberdeen, Craig Curran was scoring at a better rate for a worse team. Make of that what you will.
