Maybe just me but McCulloch's comments are a lot more honest and straight to the point than Neilson's.
That's all i really want = honesty.
Not sound bites.
Don’t know the last time I actually listened to a football manger getting interviewed, 99% of the time all you get is sound bites and what they think the fans want to here. No point in listening to them or getting bothered by what they say imo.

I get what you're saying, but when we are all just desperate to get better quality players in then it's hard at times not to read into the few little bits of info the Manager releases each week, when little else is happening.
That aside, if Shankland does indeed sign then the club have done well to secure him.

On paper it’ll be a great signing, hopefully it does happen and hopefully we use him properly.

So how many goals does Shankland score next season, and how many months injured?

Strange post.
There's just no pleasing some people.
What doubt & cynicism.
Arguably our biggest signing for many a year.
Well done DUFC.
Rejoice & support.

The club need to be commended for tagetting someone who scored 34 goals at our level last year.
The board need to be commended for making the money available.
Robbie and the staff deserve praise for convincing him to consider us over big clubs.
But for me the question is where does he fit In to our team? Who will he play with and what's our approach for getting the most out of him. If that's been carefully thought through then this is a great move.
If teams continue to sit in deep against us, I don't know how the current midfield will break them down or create enough chances for LS to justify wages.

People need to watch his highlight reel of his goals last season. "He needs to play in a front 2" and "we need to get a winger to get balls in the box" are both myths. He scores all types of goals and is a total predator. Whether we play 4231 or 442 or anything else doesnt change the fact we have signed someone who has been red hot the last couple of years.
If we play the 4231 then its going to be Clark/C Smith/Pawlett in the role behind him and all of those players will spend their time close to Shankland. Clark drops slightly deeper yes, but it wasnt too often that our 1 striker was isolated last season.
