throwing of objects in football

seems to be getting worse at alot of scottish grounds now i think a possible ground shutdown for fans could happen in near future if it keeps happening for a few games to let fans know it wont be tolerated

The clubs can’t afford to support a shutdown and will never accept strict liability so the fans are going to get hammered with jail sentences to try and stop it that way.
It’s absolutely right that it needs to be stopped, but it’s absolutely wrong that football supporters are given tougher sentences than anyone else for the same crime.

IMO points deductions/ abandoning games awarding points to opponents is the only way to fix it, fans would police things themselves, but the clubs will never accept it.

Problem.

Away fans at Motherwell throw stuff at players. You gonna shut that ground, the ground of the away fans where the missile came from, or all grounds?

Agree something needs doing though.

A few jail sentences for the perpetrators would settle it down.  Its still a minor issue compared to the 70s although most of the missles were aimed at opposition fans.  quarter bottles of whisky(usually empty) golf balls (some with razor blades sticking out), darts, polybags of pish the good old days at the seggy.  Ive stopped doing it now

i would just let us into that wee section of neds at motherwell for 10 minutes - that would sort it

Hmmmm.............. I've got a doubt that would really be the solution to arseholes ripping up seats at Pittodrie, or inadequates flinging a smokebomb in Paisley. You'd have to talk me through the thinking shedboy

For all the time I've been going to the football, dafties have thrown stuff on the park. It's flavour of the month right now, aided and abetted by the media who like to write a lazy headline.

Over all the years, clubs have cut back on law enforcement officers replacing them with minimum waged stewards with little to no training. Couple that with the pressure on kids trying to be part of 'the gang', mix it in with mephedrone or similar (see the boy at Easter Road now jailed for a symbolic 100 days) and it should be obvious to all but the thick that the issue is societal rather than isolated to football.
