3 year deal to a 31 year old who can't/won't play on plastic.
Hmmmm.
I'd rather we wait and see how we get on between now and the end of the season before we hand out such contracts.

Agree.

Irresponsible by the club, judging on what we've seen.

When you think of some of the shite we’ve had at centre half in recent years; Donaldson, Durnan, Scobbie, Quinn, Edje etc. I’m happy with this, him and Connolly will be a solid, familiar partnership whichever league we find ourselves in next season.

Don't think anyone is questioning his ability.
More the length of contract given his age/injury history.

Is the cant/wont play on plastic not just for this season until his injury has fully healed??

I guess we'll find out next season.
I hope he can. Because he could play upto what 8/9 times on it.

Happy with this. I think the same folk that go on about the good old days of Narey, Malpas etc who played well into late 30s and further are the same ones complaining about a deal taking a guy into his mid 30s.

Not exactly: I don't care about a player's age, as long as he is able.
So far, I'd say Reynolds has looked slow, shows poor distribution and is no great upgrade on the players at the club already. His lack of mobility would be shown up if United reach their target of the top league.
Of course, I could be wrong, but can anyone argue with what is written?

Its all about opinions Pat but you think Reynolds is no better than Bouehena.

I'm assuming you are asking me a question: is that correct?
'no great upgrade' is what I've written. Bouhenna is not as good as Reynolds as a central defender, I would not use him there, ever. Again, an opinion, but Watson is a better option from what I've seen than Reynolds. Unfortunately, Reynolds has no competition on the left side of defence, another example of our unbalanced squad.
Frans is injured presently, but I think Reynolds looks as 'steckie' as him, and of a similar standard these days. Reynolds obviously has had a better career.
Have you been impressed by Reynolds?

A few x Reynolds has been my MOM StMirren away when down to 10 men springs to mind. Will he get back to where he was before his injury probably not or Afc would have tried to keep him. His organisation of those around him should not be overlooked, he is a good old fashioned if in doubt get it out defender.
Very good signing for a club in our position IMO

i'll argue these points, he's steady, old fashioned still wears black boots ffs. Well organised and experienced. Does a no nonsense joab. Doesnt need great distribution, just needs to do hes joab. He wid walk into most of the premier teams starting 11.

Good points, Beharder: I've overlooked his organisational abilities, and as said above, I hope I'm wrong.

Disagree Pat. I think he has been mostly solid. Will say he has looked slow at times though.
To be fair to Reynolds he's been out a long time before he came to us so probably still getting up to pace.
Having said that I'm struggling to see him as a regular in the top flight so length of contract is worrying...but unlikely to be an issue next season when I'm sure he'll do ok..

Reynolds had a career threatening injury and had just completed his rehab when he joined us, hence the avoiding plastic pitches.
Once he has had a pre season I think we will have a very good defender and club captain.

I think this is a good move for United.
2 years with a 1 year option might have been a bit better, but let’s hope that with a real pre season and to properly get over his awful injury, he can be the marshall at the back we’ve sorely missed.
Maybe I should just say he’s shite then when he turns out to be, I can say I was right. Cause being right is all that matters.

Happy enough with this. Guess he'll see this as his last contract so hence why we have had to go with 3 years. If there is a play bonus element to that with a lower basic then would seem to make sense for all.

That last sentence: what is it supposed to mean? Do you really think that some United fans are saying Reynolds is 'shite' on this forum, for I haven't seen that? Or are you implying that some fans want players, in this case Mark Reynolds, to fail?
From my point of view (which I thought was one of the purposes of Tek's forum, to express opinions), I am doubtful the club will get three years value out of MR, who, again in my opinion, hasn't stood out as so much better than others in his position.
Some have disagreed with that opinion, and pointed out that he is an organiser, and has been very good in certain matches. And that's what a supporters' forum is all about, again, in my opinion.
