Players who could go on to better things
Players who could go on to better things: do United have any in the first team squad right now?
For most, but not all of these players, this is the pinnacle of their careers.
Could any go on to better things (in football)?

Ian Harkes could if he keeps going the way he is and learns to be more selfish around the box at the right time but that’s 1

Hate to say it, but I reckon being at United is shite for players(in the last wee while anyway).Seems to be a bad atmosphere lingering. Reading on here today about the new regime/old regime shite--Sow in the huff(true? no smoke and all that).Maybe that's just social media nowadays. As for players going on to better things I reckon Harkes as above but that's it for me. You never know though-look at Barry Douglas for example.

Scott Banks.
Allegedly, still never seen him.
Ian Harkes, looks like a future prospect.

That's part of the current problem, that we have too many players who have had better times and have taken a step down to play in the Championship.
The hunger to get some where you have never been is always a greater hunger than to get back to a place you have been.
We need to have a few players from the lower leagues who were overlooked as teenagers and are desperate to show what they can do.
To answer the original question I would say from the current 1st team squad none of them have the ability to rise beyond the Scottish Premier.

Was sorry to see him leave. Lad did well for himself.

I stuck-up for Douglas too.
Some of our fans had a weird dislike of him.

Harkes is a standout for this at the minute..
Seaman obviously also but he isnt really our player.
