looking at this pic again and noticed a few things...like st obby said the amount of people that worked in the bowbridge mill must have been huge considering that area...also both grounds must have been about on the outskirts of town when built...if you look north of dens there's no houses....they reckon that fleming gardens was the first housing scheme in Dundee...and the kingsway was built round Dundee...so not much more north of there bar a couple of villages at the time that got swallowed up as part of Dundee
If you look even closer I'm sure you'll see yourself in the playground of Dens Rd Primary school. What year do you think this photo was taken?

Interesting, Maryfield Hospital in the background, believe it or not that is the 1st time i have seen a picture of the place i was born in. This must have been taken prior to 1973 when they condemned it after my birth lol
Anyone else on board born there?

I'd say the old pic was in the 20s or 30s....the newer pic i'd wager was 1976....check the grass in the backies...burnt to a crisp..1976 was the year it was scorchio, hotest summer on record
maryfield didn't get flattened until the 80s...they built the astro when i was in first year in 1983, always mind seeing them digging it all up fae the old morgan junior school
you no a ninewells bairn?

Nien, I can clearly remember being born there, they're were all these strange people waving flags on my departure as i was driven up Mains Loan and along the Cleppie rd in a white Hillman Avenger. It ceased as a Hospital in 1974 according to Wikipedia. What year did they put the roof on the seggy? 1980?

Edmund used to have a newspaper clip of his auld boy, who lived on Sandeman Street, when he was a bairn. He had an uninterrputed view of Tannadice before they put the roof on the Seggy.

Very odd looking ground from the eye of a Vulture, the grass looks very scorched here, was this the 2nd hottest summer on record and year the Eagle lost his title to Jim Stirton in the Arkley St Allotment wars of 86?
Ps. Notice the Church on the corner of Tannadice St and Arkley st, yet another example of previous council crime allowing a building of historical and architectural importance to be demolished and replaced by bog standard new build flats. I think they incorporated a commemorative stone plaque on the corner of the new build. No idea what they done with the countless names of the fallen from the 1st World War that adorned the walls inside of that and many other churches they destroyed before the wrecking ball stopped swinging
