Namely that he has asked not to play on artificial pitches.
Surely if we are in the play-off's and have to play Qots, Accies or Livi he would be persuaded to play for us?

It’s a tricky one, got to remember this is his career and we might just have to accept that he doesn’t want to play on it, as another injury like he had would more or less probably end it! We’ve got adequate cover imo, and his decision should be respected

Think the final at least should be played on a neutral grass pitch.

Possibility it may be in the loan agreement that he cant play on them also?
However did RN not say midweek he may play against QOTS? Was it maybe just precautionary along with Connolly sitting it out with a slight thigh issue?

Neilson left it up to Reynolds if he wanted to play.
He declined.

I’d like to think our strongest team would play every week, especially in a crucial game in the play-offs, however what are his reasons for declining?
I’m guessing he’s had medical advice that playing on that type of surface could make his injury flare up again, in which case he’s absolutely right to take no chances.
This is why I’m so against fake pitches, it limits certain players ability to play for medical reasons and that is wrong.

If playing on an artificial surface could end his career, then there is no decision to be made. It's not fair to ask someone to take that risk.
Besides, if he was told he was playing against his will, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play/commit at 100% for fear of ending his career.
It's shit, but it's not the players fault.

I have no problems with Reynolds not being risked on these plastic pitches as it would not be fair on the player to take a risk by playing on a surface that could cause a career ending injury or worse health issues that go on beyond his playing days.
The problem that I have is with the plastic pitches and would prefer to see them scrapped with proper grass surfaces instead, it seems that those teams with them gain a degree of advantage with them especially against teams who have to adapt their line up to cope with players being left out due to being unable to play on such surfaces.

I suppose the other thing to think about is say we played Accies on their plastic.
Even if we did persuade Reynolds to play, would his mind be 100% on the task at hand or would there be doubt in the back of his mind and a fear of getting injured? If there is even an iota of self doubt in such an important match then you could argue he's not worth playing anyway.
Hopefully we just win the league so it's not something we have to think about.

As I said on the QOS thread both leagues should have grass as mandatory.
There's a clear advantage to the teams using plastic, time for change.

Agree with ArabChris on this thread, the issue is plastic grass, compounded by some clubs not renewing the whole set up when it's clear the surface is played out.
Don't agree that it is Mark Reynolds who should be questioned on this at all. If he's been given advice not to play on these surfaces for the time being, the club should respect that. especially as he isn't our player, and we don't know the exact issues causing him to be given the reported medical instruction not to play on plastic.
