DeJa Vu

Just me or was tonight's game just a replay of just about every big game we have played over the past 3 years?

i.e. big, must win, vital game. We take through a good crowd. We play pathetically and barely even register a good shot at goal and the opposition out-muscle us, out-fight us, and out-smart us.

That btw,  was Ayr tonight without their two (imo) best players (Shankland and Forrest).

So sick of the fucking 4-2-3-1 system. It reels like we set-up to stifle other teams, rather than set-out to score goals/win.

Another deep frustration  = flling the team with loads of players under 5'10" all of whom are much of a muchness and none of whom who appear to take a man on and drive us forward.

Sick of seeing Safranko so pitifully isolated and starved of service.

And sick of us signing the wrong type of players in January, when it seems so so obvious to me that we need height, strength and above all a bit of fucking dig to fight our way out of this league.

Not sure where we go from here tbqh and (I hate to say it but) i'm losing faith in Neilson already.

Re: DeJa Vu

Tek, I've just written much the same about players on another bit here.

We all get a bit of enthusiasm when somebody new takes over (in this case it could be Robbie, or Mark Ogren) but the science behind doing well isn't too hard..................surely?

Boys that are physically capable should be a prerequisite, but not,it seems, at Tannadice.

Re: DeJa Vu

Another manager wanting to fill a side full of number 10's,  Cammy Smith, Nesbitt and possibly Pawlett signed this month alone on top of what we already have, fucking ridiculous signing policy.

Mate I am fucking pig sick of it.

This fucking pishy 4-2-3-1 system may have worked when we had Ciftci upfront and players of the calibre of GMS,Armstrong and Gauld in behind, but fuck me since then we have tried to shoehorn in so many players that are so so similar in standard i.e. Dow, Erskine, Obadeyi, Riski, Van Der Velden, Spittal, Connolly, Justin Johnson, Matty Smith, Cammy Smith, Nesbitt, McMullan, King, etc etc et fuckin cetra.

When will the penny drop that four hard working players in midfield with two boys upfront who compliment each other but are also different in style may just work?

Oh and maybe a bit of fucking pace in the team. We are painfully slow.

I think we'd all agree with that. Ayr were/are everything we're not. Big, strong, fit, well drilled, able to find a man with a pass, calm in possession, unhurried.

It worries me that we are actually none of the above.

Re: DeJa Vu

Playing two holding midfielders also doesn't stop us conceding on average well over a goal per game.

Correct...and the only holding is holding back.

Complete lack of skill or effort on show.

Re: DeJa Vu

RN looks like he is trying to build a team that is  effective on.4G surfaces  with lovely
summer like  20degree temperatures and EPL style referees who dont allow tackling.
However this is 2nd tier Scottish football... we can all fill in the rest.

Not sure how a team who punt aimless long balls to nobody is building a team for 4g summer football tbh.

Re: DeJa Vu

1 thing I hate is folk moaning about height.  Height has very little to do with it.  Strength, ability , desire, quality these are things that matter.

It does feel like deja by however with this 4231 let’s play 3 no 10’s bullshit.  It’s like getting rid of Blair Spittal to replace him with 3 Blair Spittals.

The first 11 is still, after all these signings, 5 players short of being a good championship team.  We still need a GK, CB, LB, winger and striker.  That said this team still could win the league if they show some desire and organisation as the rest of the league are also rubbish.

Thats entirely the point young man they cant cope on a.bumpy pitch windy night ,they just kick it long.
Maybe its all part of the plan and the Yanks will put down a 4G surface at Tannadice, stranger things have happenned.

Re: DeJa Vu

Fyvie for me, is done. Slow, unfit and scared to tackle.

Frans and Bouhenna must be the softest pair of centre backs I have ever seen. Bouhenna in particular was absolute dogsh**e last night.

McMullan getting the whole 90 was staggering. After hearing a rumour about Aird we will be in for another winger I reckon.

Re: DeJa Vu

I canna stand mcmullan, rather have billy king on the park, McMillans ball retention is a fucking minter, he either hit and hopes or just runs in to bother and paps out the tackle and don’t even get my fucking started on his end product, absolutely awful footballer

Re: DeJa Vu

Hibs and Falkirk finished above us season 1. Fair enough Hibs but falkirk though... all while Dumbarton were schooling us. A part time team.

St Mirren and Livi finished above us season 2. Livi a part time. Shabba should’ve been punted.

Ross County and Ayr above us currently while we’ve beat alloa once In 5 games this season.

Fucking horrific.

Re: DeJa Vu

I really thought last year, was our best chance of promotion. Winning this league is not about entertaining football, it's about having  a physical above average height squad who are disciplined and who make less mistakes than the rest. In other words consistency.

Do we really need a sports director who describes his role as "executive leadership"?

After those "performances" if he picks Fyvie or McMullan to start next week and I am the Chairman he will have his p45 on a plate at full time if we lose to Morton at home.

Smith and Stanton barely any better but we need to play somebody. Worrying times. Yes I'd probably bring King and Aird back for those 2 as well.

Re: DeJa Vu

We've won and lost plenty big games with big supports in loads of ways/styles lucky, unlucky and deserved but there is no excuse for a lack of fight and urgency. That is what fucks supporters off the most.

And people clearly unfit. Fyvie And Aird  for example. And not getting stuck in. e.g. Stanton Bouhenna Frans
And being invisible e.g. Smith or King.
And being utterly fucking useless eg Murdoch McMullan  Rabbitsch Curran etc etc

Fyvie is in a bad place. I like him alot and have high hopes but I'm no sure how many games he is away fae good form.

Every player we have other than The Rabbit we don't rate needs to step it up regarding getting stuck in.

If you watch foitage of how Robbie had hearts playing it seems the current style might be a case of workin with what he has.
