John Gibson from the DUSF saying on Twitter he offered to pay Ryan Gauld's wages till the end of the season if we made a bid to sign him.
Mike Martin knocked him back.
Unbelievable.

Yeah I seen that. Mike Martin was a complete bellend.
should have said, not that it matters anyway as there’s no chance Gauld would have came back anyway.

We could have at least asked the question.
It's almost like they want us to stay down.

Absolutely with that offer on the table we should have tried, he’d have said no, but they could then have went back to John and said Gaulds a no, but we can get X would you put the same offer up?
I said months ago I felt Martin didn’t want success, not many agreed at the time. I saw nothing to change my mind.

If true 100% correct decision by MM.
Having somebody at the club earning more than twice his teamates is a ridiculous morale busting idea.

If I had offered to pay Ryan's wages to season end and it was turned down I wouldn't be splashing it on Twitter if I had the best interests of the club in mind.
Online!
Yep minter, wouldn’t have came anyway so what’s the point and spouting it on twitter

These things going public sometimes lack facts fae either side to help us make an educated solid opinion on the issue. Easy tae bash MM even if folk believe he deserves it. Offer Ogren n' crew/Tony Asghar the same then!

He never brought it up to be fair to him. Jim Spence did.
Gibson just confirmed his question.

Thank fuck for that. I have a lot of hope for the foundation and how they tackle things.

I don't know John Gibson but I'm aware his attempted purchase of ST's shares was a no go because allegedly he was asked to pay ST's legal costs on top of his own.
How do I know this? Gibson leaked it I think. So now after MM and ST long gone he's leaking more to Spence.
I suppose what I'm getting at is sometimes the big hitters who get deals done do it quietly and privately without the need for Facebook Twitter Instagram or fuck knows what else.

Everyone confides in someone. Everyone.
Though maybe best not to confide in someone who will splash your own personal business details/pursuits (whatever you want to call it) on social media.
On that we agree.

Yeah maybe my last post was a bit harsh, I'm sure John is a good guy. Just don't think allowing old bitterness to go out on Twitter is a good idea, because you would know Spence would do that given the chance

I don't know John Gibson at all. Other than a few brief exchanged posts on here via PM.
But to me, that's a nice gesture and he is willing to put his money where his mouth is.
We are not in a position to be aloof regards help and if he extends the same olive branch to Ogren then i hope he accepts it gratefully.

I take it from that he's a poster on here.
If I was the owner of United I'd want to be sure anyone involved in business deals with me was not going to leak confidential discussions, is all I'm saying really.
On a lighter note we could sure do with some Gauld magic right now!

Can't comment on whether Martin did or didn't want success but I can see why a chairman might find it a non starter to accept finance of a single player from a person who had attempted to get a majority control and failed to. It would be a massive can of worms.
Mark Ogren is in a completely different position to MM and if JG feels he can help United he should contact MO. Saying that, MO is in a position himself to pay Ryan Gaulds wages till May. Still won't come though

It wasn’t this season, it was last season, before any attempt by JG to buy the club.

My thoughts on this when i read it yesterday was did Gibson make the offer knowing it wouldn't happen?
I know you post or did on here John..
Do you intend offering to pay a players wages from npw to the seasons end this window?

I had a convo with him on twitter a wee while back, he was clear he was giving no money to The board at the time and wouldn’t buy shares from failures. This was after the above Gauld offer and his attempted purchase.
He did say he would be willing to put money into lift the club, but I’m guessing that’s a long way off, I’m sure there’s would need to be significant conversations with new owner first.
If he did make the offer knowing it wouldn’t happen, it’s even more reason to try it.
