Probably gonna take place this coming week lads.
Just a wee heads up.
Get your questions ready for the big man.
Same drill as the Stevie Campbell one.
One question at a time. And please don't start the questions till the Q+A begins (ie Sieb's online).
This one will be a wee bit more lighthearted though i'd imagine.
Looking forward to it.Another wee coup for the Forum.

Sieb, I moustache you a question about the '97 league cup final...
BTW I'm only joking he was a total hero of mine back then as an aspiring keeper too. Even had the green telewest keeper top.
edit: getting my timelines mixed up

Hello, I am working during the Q&A so can someone ask the big man my question?
...........
Sieb you were a brilliant keeper for us and the 96/97 team has many great memories for me. My question is, can you explain how or why the team declined so badly after the league cup final in 1997 ?
Sorry to ask a negative question but I've always wondered about it. You sent me some goalkeeping advice around a year ago via facebook which was much appreciated and has helped a lot.

To get people reacquainted with the big man, as its been 15 years since he was between the goalposts at Tannadice, TEK has kindly let me put up a few things on the countdown to his Q&A tonight.
First up is a couple of Youtube clips about Sieb and his time at Dundee United. I wont embed the clips as it makes the thread run slow so will click and past the address.
First clip:
This is a complimation of interviews of his time at United, highlights include Tommy McLean at 55secs calling him an Eejit. And also the last three mins where Sieb is milking a cow on Dutch TV!
Second Clip:
This is a 10 min all action saves, crosses etc. A best of Sieb from his United career. This is a must watch before the Q&A, too many highlights to choose from and shows what a great keeper he was at United.
I will also be putting up a brief bio of his career and a short round up of his time at Tannadice later as we get closer to the start of the Q&A.

Keeping the countdown going with a great article about Sieb written in 2011 by Matt Nelson, for the website In Bed With Maradona called 'There's Something About Sieb'.

And just to finish off the countdown, here is a brief bio of Sieb.
On October 22nd 1966 in Kerkrade in the Netherlands, while the Four Tops was at Number 1 with "Reach Out, I'll be there", Sybrandus Johannes Andreas "Sieb" Dijkstra was born. Urban legend say's that he was born with his glorious 'industrial' moustache already fully grown and was 6ft 5 at aged 9 already.
Sieb then began his goalkeeping career in 1989 at Roda JC, the management failed to recognise his awesome potential and his awesome 'tache and was snapped up by Tommy McLean to replace Ally Maxwell at Motherwell for the start of the 91-92 season. After a succesfull spell at Motherwell where he had 80 appearances for them and became a cult figure with the fans, Sieb was sold to QPR for £250,000 at the end of the 93-94 season.
Soon after joining QPR, the manager Gerry Francis, who signed Sieb left to join Spurs. After a positive start in the first team under Gerry Francis, the new management couldnt handle his machismo and after a few spells on loan to Bristol City and Wycombe Wanderers, he was once again snapped up for £50,000 by Tommy McLean to replace (or maybe challenge is more of a polite word) Ally Maxwell (and Lance Key!) at Dundee United.
Going straight in as number 1 Sieb made his debut against Kilmarnock (away) on the 7th of December 1996 (which finished 2-0 to United). He was bought just a month after Kjell Olofsson, Lars Zetterlund and Erik Pedersen , and in his first season he was an integral part of the United team who finished third in the league which included a 13 game unbeaten run with 8 straight wins as well as reaching the Semi Final of the Scottish Cup.
The following season Sieb played every minute of the 97-98 season, a total of 49 matches, and it was in this season that the big man played in Europe as well as his first final, the Coca-Cola (League) Cup, sadly being beaten 3-0 by Celtic. The team also reached were knocked out by the same team in the 4th round of the Scottish Cup, and overall United finished 7th in the League table.
The 98-99 was a season of transition for Dundee United and for Sieb as this was to be his last season in a United goalie jersey. Paul Sturrock now in charge after replacing Tommy McLean, United finished 9th in the debut season of the newly formed SFL, and Sieb featured 36 times including all of the Scottish Cup games where we reached the Semi Final only to be beaten by Celtic, yes them again. The backbone of the Scandavians and the porn star of Tommy McLean's team was broken up as Paul Sturrock was trying to build his own team (as a manager has a right to do). Sieb left on the 11th June 1999 after his contract ran out, like Erik and Lars before them earlier in the season. Only a week after Sieb left Kjell's contract ran out also closing this particular era in Dundee United's history.
Overall the big man made 86 apearances for United, and was made into another cult hero just like at Motherwell for his bond with the fans. Just remember when he used to throw his gloves into the crowd after the game before the police stopped him from doing it. Sieb is now turned goalkeeper coach and is still involved in the beautful game and spreading his knowledge to aspiring young goalkeepers in his native land.
Sieb may have lost his mighty moustache in his later years, but he never forgets his time in Scotland at United and at Motherwell, and regularly shows his support for the team, his former teammates and the fans at both clubs through social media.
A true gentleman, and a great goalkeeper (and definetly not a porn star),
Mr Sieb Dijkstra.
