Re: Share deal dead

Again John, if you are reading this we would love to hear from you on here.

You know you would get a fair hearing mate.

Time the fans were made aware of what is happening here and just why the deal fell through just days after being 'verbally' agreed.

Re: Share deal dead

Just back fae the sunbed and the shits I have had after this mornings fry up is being made worse by this news.

If these lads are wanting to buy him out, I agree with others, then need to go public now and put the screws on Thompson to get the fans fully informed of what they are about and intend to bring to the club and batter it back into his court.

Re: Share deal dead

Something I was just thinking about.
If Spence had any sense, he’d ensure he retained access to the top table? Maybe he’s switched his allegiance to John Gibson?
Maybe it was Mike Martin who leaked the news? Maybe he’s fucked off with Thompson taking the piss and enlisted Spence to get the pressure gauge rising?

I don't know the poster however I don't think he's the only one who has been fed a lot of bullshit and bought it.

Martin and Thompson have been leaking shite to fans spinning us a yarn whilst some fans have been suckered into purchasing season tickets again in the false hope that further investment is imminent and Thompson has no say on the day to day running of the club.

For too long we have heard there's no alternative, well now we have one. Hopefully John will answer TEKs call and give us some insight of what ridiculous demands that this parasite wants.

Re: Share deal dead

Surely yank stuff and this offer are completely separate.

The timings don't work. Thanks were being spoken Bout ages ago - that statement says an offer was made last week.

Also would appear the boy Gibson is the one who's been leaking stuff before a deal was sorted.

We all knew there's going to be clauses and if JG thought he was getting the club the same way you would buy a pair of trainers then I wouldn't want him anywhere near our great club.

I believe (If memory serves me right) that JG was coming out (or others were at the time on his behalf) saying how easy it is to run a football club, cut costs and make it profitable.

I'd hope that once he makes united champs, then he would share the info with the rest of the league because I don't know of a football chairman who thinks it's easy.

Fingers crossed this is either 1 of 2 deals on the table OR our mystery man realises how tough a gig it is and comes prepared for the long run.

I want only the best for united and don't want the club used like a pawn in a battle which seems to be quite personal.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

We were told its a done deal. The yanks were coming. Now with news coming out today it seems gibson was front runner with his 500k bid. But according to others the yanks was a done deal .

I only want the best for our club aa well. I always have. Just never trusted the thompsons and tbf i dont trust gibson either.

Re: Share deal dead

This guy says what you want to hear but will get his money back quicker than Thompson did and more he is a businessman that obviously sees money in it for him.

Re: Share deal dead

Although I've read the Gibson/Thompson deal is dead, I'm also seeing, recently, that the cash is still there for Thompson if he wants to sell.

Spence gets a bit of a slating, maybe due to his perceived ego, but it appears he has contact with Gibson and/or the other businessman supposedly part of this takeover bid.

Generally, though, I'd agree with those who think we've been played by the board once again.

Shelling out £500k for a loss making business with no assets is not the actions of someone trying to make money imo

I dont know, i've already told the wife if we ever make the big time, we set 4 million quid aside for DUFC and not to expect a penny of it back.  Wasnt amused.

It certainly isn’t.

That’s the biggest problem we have, the loss making part, whoever comes in needs to get the books balanced somehow.

Re: Share deal dead

You need someone who is willing to come in and not take anything from the club like a wage there is clubs who have this but not many out there

Has contact with them. He's known them for years. Frews pals.

Re: Share deal dead

Not sure what disappoints me more. The fact that we were so close to getting rid of ST, or the attitude of some posters (not just here) who seem to take great delight in the fact that it's fallen through. All so they could effectively say "I told you so" and get one over on fellow Arabs.

Nobody is delighted at this or the state we’re in.  Some of us just wish folk would stop believing the annual bullshit, so the fans could actually start trying to do something about it.  1 protest in all this time and half the support booed it.  No wonder they take us all for mugs.

Re: Share deal dead

Can you not concede that there's a chance (however small) that something maybe happening in the background?

There's a definite preference for bad news amongst Arabs these days. I first posted about ST selling up the other day and it got 16 replies over a couple of days. Bowers posted when Spence said it had fallen through and folk couldn't wait to jump on it! 46 replies and counting!

The protest was poorly co-ordinated, badly timed and didn't have enough backing to work. Any of the guys handing out flyers didn't seem to know what the actual plan was, so how could people have supported it? Bear in mind, this was pre-DUSF. So anytime you asked 'what happens after Thompson walks', nobody had a clue.
Add to the fact it was done during our biggest game of the season - I think the majority of fans just wanted to back the team that day.
Totally appreciate it was done so it was on tv and to maximize publicity. Just don't think it was done properly.

Had we doubled our efforts post match out front, maybe we'd have had more joy. Like the Hamilton game. We would have doubled the mob outside.

Back on topic - I don't understand why, if the asking price is merely £500k, why didnt MM purchase the club? He could have done this prior to purchasing Gussie Park. Is it because of these 'conditions' ST has attached?
Would absolutely love to know what they are.

Re: Share deal dead

TBH I'm a bit bamboozled by the whole thing. Who were these kiddy-on American investors and why did the deal involving them fall thru (if it even existed). MM needs to explain.

A bit tongue-in-cheek, wonder what the difference would be having a businessman from the Ferry running the Club, over having another businessman from the Ferry running it. (or is that ruining it )
