My regular jaunts over the border are what have influenced my opinion. Yes the English enjoy beating Scotland but its definately not what it used to be. Its the muslims and the foreigners that get the English animated not whether Scotland can pip Lithuania for 3rd place in the qualifiers

I've been to the last 2 England v Scotland games at Wembley and the last one at Hampden and if you drill it down to just fitba and forget about political influences which you seem to have I'd say the rivalry is stronger than ever and the distance between the teams closer than you claim.

If we were a footballing threat to them many English would want us to lose. In 78 there was not a massive anybody but Scotland campaign which seems to be going on here in Scotland. Because of our pishness English football rivalries have dluted and diversified

Doubt Clyde fans hope Celtic win much but sure they celebrated beating them more than they would most teams on Roy Keane's debut and not just because they were a wee team v a big ain.

After watching the quarter finals except the England one and seeing my choice of Brazil being eliminated I will go with the winner of the France v Belgium semi final.

I gather that England was comfortable in the win over Sweden from reading various reports and I would expect them to beat Russia to reach the final.

I would expect France or Belgium to be to strong for England though and beat them in a low scoring final.
