Neither does MM, he lives in Edinburgh 😂😂
He doesn't have to be at peak fitness to undertake his job at the club though. The players do.

According to Google maps Dundee to Edinburgh is 35 miles as the crow flies, there may be a loophole for certain players and staff on how important that they may be to the cause.
Taking the interview at face value, it's very positive in my opinion. It's heartening to hear that he recognises the failings of recent years and what steps he wants to take to address them. It could be dismissed as talking a good game, but that in itself is an improvement on the previous "situation"
We just need to wait and see how it all pans out but first impressions are good.

Does that mean we have to be within a 25mile radius on match day?
Having done a similar commute for a number of years I’d say it is more mentally draining than physically over a sustained period.
My comment was meant as slightly flippant but if you are the leader it is generally better to lead by example. Not to take anything away from the positive tone and improved managerial organisation, I would prefer he stays away Friday m soundbites like these. I definitely prefer him over Thompson.
Team wise, I would still like to see us address our lack of pace and strength- then I might start to get more excited for the season ahead. Early days yet though

genuinely don't know. I was just playing devils advocate.
Did Jackie & Co not rent a flat in St. Andrews?
I imagine that might have been quite useful.

This 25 mile radius thing: I sort of see the point. Some of the folk that travel with me get in a right state travelling 60 miles to Tannadice for a game, and you should see the nick of the Glasgow boys when they get to the games.
But then again, we're not actually playing.

Showed their dedication, I'd say.

Spongers the three of them.
Glad it wasn't me paying their wages.
Charlatans.
At least Mixu & Ray had a work ethic.

I suspect there is more to the 25 mile rule than whats mentioned in the interview.

If a player we really want is settled down elsewhere, with a wife and kids who it doesn’t make sense to uproot for a 2/3 year contract, then fair enough, we can maybe make an exception.
But there’s no reason a young player like a Billy King or a Paul McMullan for example can’t live within a reasonable distance of their work, when they have no real ties to the areas they live in now. Playing 5’s with your mates on a Tuesday Night at the Cumbernauld Leisure Centre isn’t a valid excuse to not move to Dundee.

I like some of the stuff I’m hearing especially that wages will be on a results basis, basic wage with the riches which comes with success.
IMO Longer travel every day must have an impact on the players either, physically, mentally or a mixture of both. Adding a two hour travel per day must impact elite athletes (well they should be elite!) in the day and age of sport science etc anything which can give you an edge should be considered.
Still time for Martin to cock it up but he’s doing things better than they were

Ive not listened to the interview as of yet.
However I do like the sound of the pay/bonus thing. And hopefully the players who we sign and play for us next season give a fuck and want to win the league.

Wonder if this will effect James Keatings staying or going.
I believe he is settled in Wishaw. Wonder if he'll move up to Dundee during the week.

I think it might be aimed at attracting players with a better attitude as we all know we have witnessed poorer attitudes and performances than we needed or expected and witnessed proper fight in only 2 or 3 games last season.
We were attracting players who were using us as just a stepping stone to recovery, a career resurection or a future bigger transfer without caring too much about our club.
Some put their own self importance ahead of everything we need. Some took a huff at overly due and rightly directed critisism.
Manager after manager written off as shite and fkn clueless without shouldering personal blame then digging in for Laurie Ellis, a match that mattered to their selves, a game on the telly or a fkn contract or transfer for the future.
Some I'm told seemed to do want they wanted and turned up late, had a shite attitude, thought they were better than they were and did the fkn opposite of being someone the young ains should look up to.
There has been an attitude problem within the previous recent squads and dispute that if you like but it's fucking obvious to most.
The aim seems to be bringing in a type of player with a type of attitude better than those recently and the 25 mile thing might be aimed at showing us they are committed to us and our future. Success might even gain a longer contract if they prove themselves.
We also had injuries that is something we want addressed. Travelling long journeys to and from training and matches might be seen to be a factor not in line with the best practice to avoid injuries never mind the mindset related to some not happy with the travel and leaving after doing well.

Possibly. He split up with his lass though during his problems and I don't think he has kids so he's got no real ties as such. A move closer to Dundee and a fresh start might benefit him.

The feeling that you face more fans going for yer shopping, a meal, a pint or a workout at a gym locally might do us better than having players congratulated by locals in other places for the failure.
Kids going to local schools will be happier if dad is doing well, players might think differently locally, a better kind of pressure and more likely praised for success and appreciated and harder to just pick up a fkn wage we provide with more reasons to fight more than 2 or 3 times a season.

The 25 mile rule may not effect players under contract unless they are signing updated contracts.

Youd think tho that the players would move closer to st andrews rather than dundee as thats where they are most of the week so you probably wouldnt see them out and about in dundee that much

Doesn't Martin and Laszlo live in Edinburgh? Will they be part of this 25mile radius?
Martin speaks a good game...
