We shouldn’t really be signing anyone over 30/31.
Unless it’s a decent goalkeeper.
Agreed. I’d honestly be keeping the signings over 26/27 to a minimum too.
We need boys hungry to make it to higher level, even if that means using United as a stepping stone. Not mercenaries looking for one last big payday.

Like Scobbie?Easy to say that in hindsight. I seem to remember a fairly positive reaction to Scobbie signing and there was a period where he seemed to have brought some steel and organisation to the defence.
There was a reasonably positive reaction to Scobbie, though that was soon wiped out once he actually played. I can’t say there was a period where I noticed him bringing any sort of steel or organisation to the defence. All I saw was a crock who was slower than a week in jail, who played without any sort of heart or motivation. Smeddum and the rest kept telling me what a great player he is, and how wrong I was to ever question his injury record or the fact that every team we came up against targeted him and his lack of pace.
But I wasn’t, I was right. Scobbie’s pish and is absolutely finished at full-time level. The only thing we can take from his time at Tannadice is a harsh lesson on signing ageing crocks who’ve never been anything other than mediocre. Hence why we should avoid signing this Millar character like the plague.
Never said he was great DJ. But I still think he's not nearly as bad as some are making out, I'm afraid he has been selected by the remnants of the Col Donaldson fan club. Tommy Wright and many Saints fans were sorry to see him go & weren't best pleased about his departure.

No one’s got a personal agenda against Scobbie, Smeddum. Just as nobody had a personal agenda against Donaldson. These boys consistently put in sub-standard performances, with constant individual mistakes costing us numerous goals in their time here, with Donaldson drawing further ire due to his pussing about in the warmups, and wandering about Hampden with a big stupid grin on his pus, high-giving the opposition after losing a semi-final whilst on the brink of relegation.
I couldn’t give a fuck what Tommy Wright or St. Johnstone’s 200 supporters thought of Scobbie, he’s been absolute dogshit at United and that’s all that matters to me. It’s no coincidence that the regular pastings we were getting from the Falkirk’s and QOTS’s of the world stopped once Scobbie was taken out of the team, then resumed as soon as he returned against Dumbarton.
The only agenda I have, and most others have, when criticising certain individuals, is what’s good for Dundee United, and as they’ve proven in their time here, Tam Scobbie and Coll Donaldson and Paul Quinn and Jamie Robson and Emil Lyng and whoever else comes under the microscope, aren’t what’s good for Dundee United.

I'm familiar with the name but couldn't pass comment on ability. Looks to have played plenty games for a workmanlike St. Johnstone side. Maybe would add some much needed experience?

Then he played more games and was found out. Hopefully there's better than Millar out there

Hopefully we don't sign Millar.
This big trialists match we're supposedly having. I would rather we held off and see if there's a diamond in that than panic and sign a boy like Millar who's been finished for at least 2 years.
And was never that good in the first place.

Have him back in a heartbeat.
Provided he's prepared to play for a lot less than what he was on a Celtic!

No chance he'll be back.

Nope.
Did Celtic really pay £1.5million for him?
Maybe we should say thankyou?

Even if sarcastic, Celtic are the team that plundered us off talent leading to our demise and loss of top flight status.
To compound that, they are then in cahoots with hibs, loaning them commons and stokes to keep us there.
Follow that up with the crucial buy and loan back of Morgan to St Mirren to give them a cash boost at the January window and I’d be hard pushed to say anything to them that is remotely civil

You're right EHA.
£15 million wouldn't have compensated us.
