Willo fud

Very little sympathy for him. He's old enough to know better.

However, ref has done a terrible job in this instance. Player hacks him down which had the potential to be a yellow. Nothing given. Not 1 but 2 Livingston players try to delay the restart of play and nothing is given. Player that tales him down tries to push the ball away with his hand. The second one stands right in front of him.

Ref needs to get. Grip of the game  and dare I say it, wullie Collum would have been a better ref. He may get things wrong occasionally but he doesn't stand for all that nonsense.

Let's hope the players feel a sense of injustice and come out all guns blazing. From a livvie point of view, they might think they have won it already.

Roll on Friday.

Ps any word on deniz?

Re: Willo fud

That b@stard shoulda been off for the foul on Flood. The whole game Livi had put effort into to phuckin up our free-kicks. Part of their overall tactics I guess. Ref let them away we murder. Apparently Jack Ross said something about this on BT last night.

Re: Willo fud

Willo was stupid to lift his hands and push that Fud however Livi were doing that the whole game at our free kicks, standing close to slow it down.

One thing about Willo though, no one can dispute his commitment to our club. He cares. He was all over that pitch giving his all last night and that dirty bstrd should have been sent aff for the assault on him.

Willo furious about the implosion and muppetry of Laslo’ s mastersroke substitution and advising him of such as he walked past the dugout.

Does that sum up our luck this season?

I'd like shabba to be in the press during the week calling for the referee to be strong against these tactics. Call them out on it. Make it a big deal.

Delaying the restart of play is a caution.

As for the squad - I want us to have a siege mentality. Nobody likes us and we don't care etc etc. It's not a long term solution but in a 1 off game it can help.

For large chunks of the game we were by far the better team - so let's show them. 2 wingers, get behind the defence and big team picking up the goals.

Lost the plot, lunacy from such an experienced player.

Re: Willo fud

Just watched the match back and Flood gives Laszlo dogs abuse walking by the home dug-out as he's walking up the tunnel.

Presumably it's for bringing on Lyng.

Re: Willo fud

He clearly warranted a 2nd yellow but would it have happened at all,  if the ref booked the boy that chopped him down and stopped Livi from impeding every single free-kick

Maybe it was about Lying, maybe just Csaba's general clueless lack of sensible tactics and substitutions.

Willo himself should have been subbied off after 65 minutes or so, as he was knackered.

Exactly my point in the first post. His game management was poor. 1 yellow for delaying the restart of play stops it.  Getting in and flashing a yellow for the challenge does it.

We need a ref to be strong on them

He should have been, yes.

Flood, King and Robson should all have came off at various times in the match for McMullan, Slater and Durnan.

That Csambles did none of this and instead only brought on Emil Lyng helped swing the game because we were effectively tiring and playing with 10 men.

Flood's abuse of him (and his alleged interjection in the dressing room on Friday night past) shows that he (Laszlo) has no respect in the dressing room whatsoever (with the senior players anyway).

Flood was absolutely slaying Laszlo to someone I know a couple of weeks ago.
Was right next to Csaba at the Brechin game a couple of weeks ago, and it’s clear the players have zero respect for him.

What also struck me, is how little he actually says in a game, lots of animated hand gestures and body language, but he’s as quiet as a mouse during a game, aside from when he’s giving Robson a bollocking.

They have little respect for him because he told them he wouldn't keep any of them bar a few. Told them they weren't good enough etc.
Reverse psychology gone wrong really.
Brought it on himself.

Re: Willo fud

Gave 100% and you could see his frustration at the ref and also at the guy that picks the 11 and then must be scratching his head like the rest of us when the subs board goes up.

Might not be the greatest talent however nobody can fault his desire and work rate.

He made a bad decision last night and lost it for a wee minute which showed that he cares, compare that to your Gavin Gunnings and the Wato clown and I know which I would pick.

Hopefully see him one more time after his ban in the play off final.

The Wato clown was never in a losing team and United's progress at the end of last season began with the introduction of the Wato clown and ended when he was punted. He was the only guy in the last 3 or 4 seasons who liked to pass the ball forward and for that reason alone he gets my vote ahead of any sideways/backwards merchant. Willo's been a regular for the 2 seasons we've been in the Championship and whilst his work rate is commendable, his influence on games has probably contributed more than most to us having to spend a 3rd successive year in the Championship. In his 1st spell with us, I was his biggest fan, but  no longer. The longer we keep him the longer we'll be in the Championship

Re: Willo fud

Wato used to cost us a goal a game, what did he actually contribute a goal in a game we had already won. The reason we never got prompted last year was a dodgy referee decision that resulted in Murray being sent off instead of a penalty being awarded,

Re: Willo fud

Wato made 9 appearances for United, we never lost when he played.

I felt he was badly handled by management, as he didn't have much fitness behind him when he arrived, and should have been rested or at least substituted in his last performance much earlier than he was. He was a forward thinking player, unlike many of our players of the recent past before or since.

To back up his influence, we were gaining an average of 2.00 points in the league games he played, and using that same formula, 2.20 points in the play offs (if you understand that reasoning). As a comparison, Csaba has gained 1.5 points per match with us (Raymond was on 1.89 ppm).

Presently, he's playing for a team who are unexpected leaders of the top Finnish league after eight games: he's played in them all.

I've looked all this up, in case anyone thinks I retain these facts and statistics in my heid.

But I think Wato had the potential to be a very influential player, properly managed.

And see the topic title, I don't think it's very fair on Willo Flood, having seen the poor reactions of the referee on the film clip posted by Tek.

I think the title is fair to be honest. Again - he's the team captain and he let himself be wound up. He's a grown man - not a petulant teenager.

I've not written him off but we need our captain to help lead the team and instead he will be in the stand....how much influence can he have up there?
