Chiz maybe the most INNOCUOUS manager we've ever had?

Heres some food for thought.
Luggy is named by more than a few here as our worst manager ever and whether I agree with that or not, it's irrefutable that Luggy deserves to be in that conversation.
Now consider this, Luggy was brought in to help Csaba, and genuinely made an improvement.
If one of our worst ever managers is brought back to help the current incumbent, what does that say about Csaba?
Let that sink in lads.

One angle is to look at the state of the club when a manager arrives, and then when they leave.
This makes Jackie our worst ever by a mile.
It also means Levein was best since wee Jim, and Brewster was a strange one who deserves some retrospective respect. . Dire football, however he got rid of a lot of lazy players on good money, and signed some key players that TEK mentions.
I agree with this post. Jackie inherited a decent squad who had recently won a cup, qualified for Europe and had some cracking youngsters coming through. The rot started with him and we’ve been suffering ever since. I’d also plump Golac as runner up. Despite him winning the Cup (albeit with wee Jim’s team) he also transformed a top 4 side into relegation material which took many years and managers to recover from. As much as I dislike Csaba, he is only my 3rd worst manager and hopefully he gets punted before he does any more damage to the team

There have been a lot of poor managers, but Csaba is who we have presently.
And it annoys me to see quotes like this regarding the Ross County game:
We had the game in our hand and we had to score the penalty. Even after the penalty we had a very promising free-kick and from the counter-attack we lost the goal.
.........when he makes little attempt to set us up to 'counter attack' by leaving nobody up when we defend set pieces.
Of course, County left Ryan Dow in a forward position, and to quote Csaba again "from the counter-attack we lost the goal."
Yeah, it really annoys me when he leaves nobody up.
Ok here is the stats for worst managers in order (since Jim):
Gordon Wallace
Dave Bowman
Craig Brewster
Paul Hegarty
Mixu
Gordon Chisholm
Jobbie
Luggy Sturrock
Well you know what they say about stats so my view:
Craig Brewster
Laszlo
Kirkwood
Mixu
Jobbie
Luggy
Alex Smith
Based on having at least 20 games. I dont think Sackie or Houston are close in fact neither is Chisolm
quantitative analysis with qualitative assessment. No thanks needed cheers x
For entertainment factor Ray and Laszlo are right up there for pish.
oh and just to add Laszlo will become worst manager - based on division. But remember Brewster! really think hard. Kirkwood was pish as was Mixu. I see no reason why Sackie is mentioned. he let us all down and didnt fulfil expectations but fuck sake best football id seen for a few months since the 80s.

Cannae believe think Brewster, Chisolm and even GOLAC!!! (WTAF?) were worse.
Jeezo lads.
Ivan cannae be considered anywhere near laszlo. Aye he drove me nuts and was a lucky fucker but so what. Chis nope did ok to an extent. Brewster was on a par with this clown, but at a higher level. The clown did beat him though Brew got sacked after a 5-1 demolition and clown got more money after a 6-1 annihilation.

Brewster's short spell in charge was awful mate. Of that there is nae doubt.
But as I said above he actually helped lay the foundations for Levein by bringing in 3 or 4 quality players who became a big part of the team over the next 4 years or so. He gets a bit of a by from me on that part.
Chisolm I actually felt done a great job keeping us up and then into a Final. The Mypa game was a total disaster and the beginning of the end for him. But to put things into a bit of perspective it was a game in Europe.
Christ, us playing in Europe seems a long, long way off just now.
Golac won us the Cup. Enough said.

Unpopular opinion but it's too early for CL chat of worst manager ever as he's not had a proper run with his own team. That's the way it goes these days I suppose, fans put pressure on managers to get punted way too early before they can really get going with their settled players. The constant changing has hurt us in my opinion and some of the managers may have turned it around with another window. We'll never knwo. Lazlo has been brutal so far but I'm willing to see how he gets on with his tam in the league.
As for Jobbie, he's probably the least likeable manager but he did well for us in his first year with a top half finish so at least he did something decent.
Sturrock's time was just a conveyer belt of players and reckless spending with some awful football.
Chisholm wasn't in long enough and was just .....meh more than anything. I remember his first game we played well against Celtic....that's about all I remember.
Brewster was sadly a disaster and I hated hounding him but it just didn't work out and his interviews didn't endear him with dreary clichés. Some good signings though.
I'm still of the opinion we would have stayed up and we sacked Ivan too early.
Wasn't keen on Kirkwood as a manager......mainly as he punted Nixon and 11 year old me was gutted. Also he never won the 1st Division with a team of internationals
Alex Smith's time saw us with an insanely borign journeyman-like squad but he brought back a bit of stability after the reckless Sturrock's era.
Jackie....some good stuff in there but what a horrible taste it all left in the mouth with the sell on clauses and the media buddies disregarding fans in favour of sticking up for him all the time.

Be easier to ask who have been our BEST ever managers.
Jim McLean & Craig Levein. There you go,
The rest have all been pish which makes you wonder, is the position untenable?
I'm in favour of a radical new model.

Obviously your too young to remember Jerry Kerr. in a list of great UTD managers he should always be there.

I wish Beharder.
I witnessed the best of the JK days.
His masterstroke was raiding Scandinavia even if he was only copying Greenock Morton who were the pioneers in importing excellent vikings.
Finn Dossing remains my #1 DUFC player ever.
I remember the massacre of '65 like it was yesterday.
So we'll put JK in at #3 in the post 1960 era.

Couldn't understand taking Lazlo on in the first instance other than he was available and cheap. How we have managed to be in a position where it seems an issue to get rid of him (he's clearly shown no signs of succeeding thus far) is beyond me.
Only made the Falkirk 6-1 game last year and it was clear that he didn't have a clue and that the players didn't want to play for him.

Jerry Kerr an easy no.3 the 5-0 derby, beating Barcelona twice and Juventus at home, beating the Lisbon Lion home and away that season and some good signings - the Scandinavian 5 (loved Persson) and happy to move on when his time was coming to an end.
I also think that Houston did a decent job and might have done better with the right chairman in charge. Also wee Tommy had 1 memorable/exceptional season finishing 2nd and a special mention for Alex Smith who was doing a decent job of turning us around and punted far too soon which given the quality of his successors (Heggie, McCall, Chisholm, Brewster held up our progress for a few years
