Re: Morton v dundee utd

Scobbie is back i'm pretty sure. Think it was only a 1 match ban he had to serve.

If Flood doesn't make it who would you guys put in his place?

Allardice? Move Stanton back to DCM?

Re: Morton v dundee utd

Aye, move Stanton into Willo's role and bring McMullan in.

Another tough game but let's take the game to them!

Too light weight for me for a tough physical game and I don’t know if we’ll see enough of the ball to do some serious attacking. I’d have Allardice in for Flood (mind you I’d probably play Allardice every week in that position as he’s a defender anyway) and keep McMullan to bring on as fresh legs.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

I agree with you about McMullan being too lightweight. Although I would certainly bring Stanton into the middle of the park where he excelled in the 2nd Half against Falkirk. I'll have to disagree about Allardice. Ive seen nothing to suggest he could be a Dundee United player , his 1st half performance against Crusaders made Timothy Van der Muelen look like a competent defender. That does leave a position to be filled out wide. Some serious thinking for czaba.

Hard place to go so a good 3 points that.

Even tougher test next week.

QoTS scored 5 of their 8 shots on target, 3 of them by Dobbie with a hattrick within 16 mins.

Away support should be decent or at least well oiled and veciferous.

Will be a day to remember or try too or just find out later through media if we win. 🍻🍾🥂🍺🐪

Re: Morton v dundee utd

Fantastic 3 points to get today very happy with that and a hugr game next week down at dumfries.

Overall it appears we should have had a goal earlier and we seemed to have created a fair amount of chances once again.

Re: Morton v dundee utd

Big win today, wasn't able to listen bc the fking audio on the zone was shocking. At least for me.  Sounds like performance was good, professional?  Clean sheets away from home are a good sign.

Re: Morton v dundee utd

I was beelin' when Csaba brought on the two central defenders as subbies, yet it worked.

And not too pleased that he hadn't told McMullan to stick out wide, but that worked too, for the team. Maybe he recognised that McDonald needs more support centrally, and although PMcM didn't appear to do much on the ball, he did pull players around with his runs.

Scott Fraser was our best performer (for me), and Harkins, for all the slating he gets from United fans and others, was easily the best Morton player on the park.

Highlight of the Morton game was Harry lewis's strange, (face nearly touching the ground ) diving header

Haha, that was a bizarre moment of the game! Although shouldn't haven't happened due to a slack back pass from durnan. Good improvisation from though lewis though! Main gripe for today's game was this wasn't the only occasion this happened due to Utd gifting Morton good chances. 1st half, Morton had a decent chance due to poor passing from Fyvie, then 2nd half, there was another poor back pass to keeper from robson which led to morton's best chance of the game.

In saying that, Utd created several chances especially in the 1st half, which on another day, we could've have scored more. Fully deserved the 3 points.

Icing on the cake was when fatty Harkins got mugged on the half way line deep in injury time which led to a 4 on 1 situation v Morton which King duly scored off to make it 2-0.

Wasn't there this week but sounds like another solid performance.  Another toughie next week but bring them on!

Re: Morton v dundee utd

Another win against another team in the top half of the league, next few games we have QOTS, Livi and St Mirren. Win these games and we have beaten all our challengers. One game at a time though then strengthen further in January to out this league to bed as early as possible.

1st goal- great finish. 2nd goal- Fatty Harkins gives the ball away and we score

Mate was at the game, said harkins was man-marking Fraser and after 25 mins was breathing out his arse, Fraser was jogging past him.

Re: Morton v dundee utd

Still early days but what a difference in Fraser.... a succession of managers have failed to get the best out of him. Frequently losing interest, not chasing back etc.

Shabba has him in his position, working hard and showing his promise. Well played to both Shabba and Fraser.

Re: Morton v dundee utd

I thought Harkins was their best player by a distance: read the game well and was involved in many areas of the park for Morton: he was the man who got back to stop McDonald putting away what should have been an easy chance in the first half.

Having said that, I also thought the Morton keeper should have saved King's first, but it was a much more difficult save than I assumed at the match...... so maybe the bit about Harkins is pish.

Billy King took both his goals well. Both instinctive, quick finishes.

Nice to see N'Koyi involved (in some small way) with the winner.
