dundee utd v crusaders

Saturday at home in the irn bru cup.

how do you think Laszlo will line up then?
I can see him going with quite a few first team players to have a look at them more than likely the lads who were on the bench last week for a run out? I assume he will want to have a good look at them in a proper game rather than videos and on the training ground. I don't like this cup one bit but I think Saturday it may come in handy for the new manager.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

We're at a stage of the season where we need a strong consistent first 11 to go on a winning run.  No point fucking about with experiments on Saturday, he should be picking what he sees as his strongest 11 and going from there imo.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

Crusaders have been getting some good results this season.Noticed they have beaten our former Northern Irish opponents Linfield 2-1 and 2-5 this season and are ahead of them in the table.

They also played in the Europa League qualifiers earlier in the season (they drew 3-3 on aggregate with the Latvian Champions but got knocked out on away goals).

This will be a sterner test than the previous round and for Csaba's first game in charge i think it's important we register a good performance and win.

With that in mind i would play a strong 1st XI.

Spoke to Ian McIntyre the day (Kit coordinater), and he told me that the Laszlo is aware that Crusaders are a good strong team.

Exactly. Looking forward to tomorrow and especially Falkirk game now we've a new manager in place.

Hope the players picked continue to show the urgency and fight we saw last week.

Interested to see how we set up under Csaba in his 1st game.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

Other than Fyvie's goal, the few good moves we had in both halves, I didn't enjoy the match today. Neither goalie had much to do the day. Thought the caped Crusaders were average, and we were'na any better. 1st half was pretty drole. We improved when King came on 2nd half. He had the assist for our goal, and was involved in some of our moves, but all to no avail.

Far too much backpasses and passing along the back 4 for me. Starting to get really p1ssed of with this.

Brilliant strike by Fyvie for our goal with ba in from King.

Their 1st goal from the corner - poor defending in front of goal. Though the corner came from 1 of the caped Crusadrers being 2 yards offside just before the corner. 2nd goal was poor marking and defending.

Couldna make my mind up whether if we'd equalised,  I coulda suffered another 30 mins of that, esp. in that b@stard cald the day. Like the phuckin Baltic.

MOTM well, McMullan. Definitely no Keatings. Other than an attempt, can't think of what he offered today. Allardyce looked in a bit of fix today.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

Never good to loose. Glad to put to bed that wierd experience of watching us not play a strongest team to win though. Hopefully never have to see that again other than a development match in the same cup if we get up.

Billy King looked lively when he came on and got us further up but some dire moments passing to naebdy or the opposition.

Paddy missed a sitter and is a wierd mix of shite and having potential of adding something we lack.

Quinn looked shaky and wasn't helped by the old style pass back play that every team loves us to do. It's not playing it safe, it's a huge tactical weakeness that gets us in more trouble than anything, especially when we are not on top of our game.

Keatings won't have helped his chances at all. All these 4 above can be better and lack confidence . Csaba has his work cut out.

A lot of poor play comes from lack of movement further up and sitting too deep. Fyvie suffers with this, McMullan too and both need Fraser in the team.

Don't think any of the young lads did badly although Allardice didn't look too good.

Their keeper had a bit of luck when he fumbled a long range shot on to the post and it came back to him and had a decent save from a similar effort later on.

We could have scored 3 or 4 easily but maybe just as well we didn't. Never felt like this after a defeat. Strange feeling. It's probably served well as an insight in to the squad available for oor new manager.

On to matches now that matter with better crowds and atmosphere whilst playing the strongest team available.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

I said it after the Linfield game and I’m even more convinced now,  Ritchie Hornby Taylor and Allardice will never be 1st team material.  Roll on the Falkirk game a chance to go 17 points ahead of them.

Csaba looked really pissed off in post match interview. Rekon he'd agree with yer words and only plus is he's seen 1st hand the spectrum of issues affecting us badly and the backup we have to help (or hinder) the 1st team win the league.

ST said he didn't ask about bringing in new players during his interview and said that was refreshing or words to that effect.

Csaba might be saying something different after getting a look at that shit today.

We have to take part, but in terms of the greater picture, I'm glad we are out.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

What surprised me most and dissapointed me was the lack of urgency and fight shown by players given a chance of proving their worth in a one off opportunity on the back of us doing the fkn opposite.

McMullan had that, but the rest other than Fyvie and King (although good and bad) didn't seem to be right up for it like last week.

Some craved it but got fuckall service especially up the right wing. Players screaming for the ball but those with it going back the way as a result of dithering without the confidence to play a quick pass and as a result going backwards when pressed as a result. Fuuuuuuuuuck!

The confidence issue can be helped by playing the right team with vocal fans backing them and reacting loudly. Csaba needs to demand, motivate and install a style and confidence in the players.

Last weeks effort, fight, urgency  and talk of playing for eachother was magic. Today showed me that the squad backup is fuckall backup unless Csaba has a magic fkn wand.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

Not fussed about being out of this cup, but wonder if Csaba missed a trick here. Its always nice to get off to a winning start - well he's not got that. If he seriously wanted to see whether fringe/youth players were ready for 1st team action, there were better ways of going about it rather than making 11 changes to the starting line - playing a side that had never played together before and had few 1st team appearances this season/ever was unlikley to produce a win or show players off to their best potential. A better way IMO would have been to introduce 4 at the start and give 3 others some game time in the 2nd half. Our previous managers did not help the squad play to their full potential and I was kinda hoping that Csaba would be different. He says he will make changes for the Falkirk match - what a surprise. Like my old school reports used to say - could do better.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

Like his interview.

Looks and sounds pissed off and I like him saying that he will find out quickly who is 'at the club to provide competition and who is just here'.

Been far too many passengers in our squad this past year or 2.And I include boys in the Development team (and some of the backroom staff in that too).

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

Not that bothered by the result but could have won a cup with two more games so it's a tad disappointing.

Re: dundee utd v crusaders

I cannot fathom how any Arab 'can't bothered' if we get beat, I find it difficult even typing the words.
Saturday's result was a stinker regardless.
I do give a fuck about the result (post # 16) and if the result on Sunday doesn't go our way then I'll be too afraid to be reading the forums.

Think the "not that bothered" angle is based on a unique mix of needing to concentrate on the league, fearing injuries whilst we don't have enough cover, watching us play deliberately weakened teams and experiencing all time low crowds as a result of these.

I give a fuck about the result but less than any other match i've witnessed.

How exactly do you feel about the whole thing?
