Happy with Csaba then?

I have one or two concerns (but i almost always do to be fair).

But overall i am quite happy with this appointment and look forward to hearing from Mr Laszlo and seeing over the coming months what brand of football he brings to Tannadice.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

To be honest I dont really know - if he plays goal to goal and knows how to attack and defend, thats ok with me. I just hope he's not another sideways, backwards, go nowhere passing merchant like Ray & Jackie. Like all appointments (apart from Jackie) prepared to give him a chance

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Over time I've learned not to get enthusiastic about managerial appointments.

To be honest, the only new manager we've ever had that I didn't want was McCall.......... and potentially Hughes, who I hope finishes up at Dens.

I liked Csaba when he was at Hearts, without knowing his day to day dealings, or even of his style of football. However, he was able to change formations to suit (what he saw as) the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. He was entertaining, and I hope his football team can be too. And Jambos I've spoken to seem to think well of him.

A good manager has to be lucky. So I hope Csaba is both entertaining and lucky.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

The standard of the realistic candidates was less than inspiring, at least Csaba is a bit different from the usual suspects on the Scottish manager merry-go-round.

Biggest concern is he's been brought in as a yes man, he's got no say in his support staff and I'm pretty sure he'll have no say in players coming in or out either, he's gonna need to be a good coach and good tactically.

Hopefully he gets results, that's all that matters ATM.

Hope so too but mair happy that he is the chosen candidate over the other so called front runners.

Had a stong feeling we need something different especially to engage and rally the players.

Ex players/managers, experienced players, captain types have bashed oor underperforming squads lugs for long enough without much success. Yogi, McIntyre/dodds too similar maybe on the other oot O' work options.

He is different, has  charisma and seems to bring teams together albeit with an average blast of 0.83 years per job, is that an omen? 😉 Think Hearts gig is his longest.

Annan, I'd be surprised if his chosen style is what's got him results accross varied leagues and countries. We all crave the style you breath mate but we just need promoted 1st and foremost.

Also feel he's the most likely to rally the fans. Hope we can get behind him in a good style.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

My concern with Lazlo is that he was at Tynecastle when Mad Vlad was there and he would have had to put up with Romanov's tinkering with the team.

Does that mean he is a weak character who doesn't stand up for what he thinks is right?

Also, how much of Lazlo's team selections were his own and how much input did Vladimir have?

I'm not going to start jumping on the Csaba bandwagon just yet as I don't know enough about the guy to form an opinion.  He'll be praised when deserved and suitably slated when he deserves it.

Oooooohhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

I'm going to wait until I see the customary picture of new manager with scarf around his neck before making any comment.  Still no direct quotes from ST yet.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Very happy with this appointment i hope the guy gets us up.
We need a strong character in charge,a no nonsense manager producing a decent brand of football.
This is an entertainment business sometimes that is forgotten by managers,we definitely dont need two
defensive mids at home v brechin etc.
good  luck csaba.

Just saw interview on the zone. Jeez can he talk. He has already said that it doesn't matter how we play, that we battle an get the 3 points and this is all that matters.. And he is right of course for this league. According to tranfermarkt his preferred formation is 4-1-4-1.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Did anyone else get a few goose bumps at that end of his arabzone interview when he gave his message to the fans! Absolutely choking for the game on Saturday

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Happy enough although still think it should have been a contract to the end of this season with the incentive of a new contract if we get promoted.

Still, welcome to Shabba!

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Dreadful appointment doomed to failure.

Only kidding. I was like an out-of-control hosepipe on each of our last 3 managerial appointments so I'm trying a different strategy.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Happy enough but have a nagging feeling that I'm happier about who it's not than who it is.

Under the circumstances it's probably the right appointment (and must be the first* instance in the last couple of years of ST doing something that didn't piss anyone off 😁)

*sorry should be second - briefly forgot he'd sacked Ray

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

I liked his comments "I dont want to step left or right, I only want to go forward" and Dundee United have a very clear target.

Call me desperate but I'm taking that (a) as a rejection of the sideways, backwards, go nowhere style that's proved to be spectacularly unsuccessful and (b) an end to the guy in charge getting away with saying rubbish like I've got my philosophies and principles and I'm no gonna change.

Happy to wait and see if he practices what he preaches

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Should double the gate on Saturday, 4,000 from 2,000?
Intrigued as to which way he/we will play it.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

It’s a watershed moment either a complete car crash away to happen or we’re boarding the Shabba Train to something special ala Golac flower sniffing era. Fasten the seatbelts as it’s no gonna be boring.

Re: Happy with Csaba then?

Just watched his interview.

He is an interesting character to say the least.

I think i like him.

Though time will tell how this pans out.It will be interesting to see how seasoned pros (like Scott McDonald,Paul Quinn,Tam Scobbie,Willo Flood and Fraser Fyvie) react to him.He seems to be a 'very hands on Manager' particulary on the training ground.

My gut is telling me we are gonna like him though.Think it's gonna be an interesting ride with Mr Laszlo in charge lets put it that way.
