3 days now since Saturday's defeat and the media and fans have discussed at great length McKinnon's replacements and who will be the Caretaker etc etc.
And the club have still to announce his departure.
I'd like to say it's incredible,surprising,odd etc etc.....but.

Hes sitting tight and holding out for full pay out.
Again that bastards fault for throwing a big deal.
He will never learn

Agreeing with this.

Honestly don't see what the big deal is here. And there is no way RM will get payed up his full deal. They will be negotiating a severance.
The club doesn't have two pennies to rub together.
How can it afford to spunk £300k (just my estimate) on severance?
Then attract a new manager & his backroom.
Who'd want to own a football club?

Is this the late news?

Laurie Ellis was in charge.
Wizita pisstake?
Laurie Ellis came to United with glowing references from Raith fans, unlike Raymond. But he's been part of the team which, so far, has been failing to reach the target.
I'm almost feart to write this, but are the board thinking of giving Laurie Ellis a short term chance at it, in the hope they, by default, get a change in form and save money in the process?

ray will be punted today
possibly along with Darren taylor
similar to what you are saying pat..
will they hope that ellis will possibly jump once a new manager comes in to save some dough or give him the gig for a bit to see how it pans out?

Wouldn't be the first time. They did it with Chisholm after McCall.

See the more i think about it.
I think he might give it to Houstie till the end of the season.
He's apparently wanting to retire after this season.
Maybe a chance for him to win us the title and leave Utd on good terms. And end his career on a high.
Ellis might be kept on as a coach.

i very much doubt pedro would work for Thompson again

I thought that too Bowers tbh.
But heard just this morning quite the opposite.

Talk of Houston's been hotting up in the Tele and The Courier. Wouldn't shock me if this is Thompson trying to gauge fan interest in Houston coming back.
Looking at the options mentioned, he's as good an option as any. We know what he brings, it might not always be pretty, but he's proven himself capable of getting results in difficult situations. Reckon he'd fancy himself to get us up with the players we have, plus one or two additions in January.
Given that Houston doesn't have any real established backroom staff that follow him wherever he goes, perhaps we should just keep the boy Ellis on and save ourselves the pay off.

Recall an interview with PH earlier this year in which he said he still spoke to/got on with ST
Not sure if I'd welcome his appointment or not - the fans would cut him some slack which might be no bad thing as it could take a wee bit to get things right - equally my fear is that would be the boards sole reason for appointment, hiding behind the appointment as it were

If PH gets the gig, I hope he doesn't go back to zonal marking!
Can you imagine the chaos with our back 4

Under Housty we had our most stable and successful spell in 20 years.
Knows the club, Fans still take to him.
Steady, experienced hand with contacts is exactly what we need.
Players don't like him which may or may not be a bad thing.

Respect what he did in 2010 but will always regard him as a bellend I'm afriad.
He went into contract negotiations and didn't enjoy the fact he was being asked to take less money (still more than most other managers in the league) and then slagged United off in that horrible press conference while still on the books. Further to that, every time falkirk played United he always brought up our budget - the same budget he felt he couldn't work with.
Houston was untested as a manager and managed to wangle levein wage as ST was desperate for him to stay on. When it became too much, he thought he was too big for United and then sat in the wilderness for years.
His brand of football wasn't anything more exciting than ray McKinnon and I certainly wouldn't be desperate to see him come back through the door...if he was Mourinho, I'd maybe change my mind

Totally agree. His sides were adventurous when he took over, but following the cup win he resorted to safety first. Without it being very safe. A third in his first shared (with Craig Levein) season. Fourth the next, fifth the next, sixth the season he left......and we were in the bottom half when he left.
And bad enough looking on some ex-players as potential managers without going for an ex-manager.

Houston ruled himself out today apparently.
Just posted on the other thread really so..
If LE wins at Dumbarton & v St Mirren could he get the job till the end of the season?
It would be a bit embarrassing tho would it not with Ray?
Nah it'll not happen.
He is rated very highly in Kirkcaldy.
