With the news that ray has found the time to nip over to Ireland and check out the opposition for the shambles shield I thought I'd see if anyone knew what our chief scout and DoF is up to.
I haven't heard anything since he went down to check out the Leeds Bolton first team game in august to see who fancied leaving the English championship for a crack at the Scottish second tier.

At the time of appointment I was sceptical. It seemed misguided to give one of Raymond's background team a promotion, when that same management team had been found wanting in delivering football of a winning and entertaining nature.
The appointment was dressed up in that the DoF had given up a £90,000 year job to take the Tannadice position. So he had football ambitions, so the board appeared to believe. However, I understand the lad was working for a home improvement company (correct me if I'm wrong), and can't understand what the criteria were in choosing him.
Were there any other candidates? In any case, to date, his abilities are unproven.
Regarding the manager checking out Crusaders, I think their game is Monday evening, so it'll not cause his planning for the Dumbarton game too much disruption: if any planning is actually done. I've no time for the Irn Bru cup in the present format, but I'm not too upset if he has prioritised that tournament. In fact, maybe he should just play his first choice eleven, as the two week break last round did them no good at all.

Yeh Ray and whoever he chooses to accompany him on this mission will be on an all expenses jolly up to Belfast whilst anyone else can watch it live on TV.

Fuck sake Bowers. I ken you hate st and hate ray and hate anything which has become related to dufc/' the snake but give it a rest.
You make it sound like a 2 week trip to some exotic country while United pick up the tab for his every luxurious whim.
In truth he will leave on the Monday afternoon, drive to get the ferry watch the game, stay in a standard hotel and drive back in the morning. I'd guess the total cost for him and whoever he chooses to go with him will be 400 quid. Not exactly the bank breaking stuff you hint at

Probably not even that. A cheap return flight over there on Monday afternoon a comp for the game or admission of about 20 quid max. He'll either return that night or it'll be a night in a budget hotel of less than 100 quid and back early doors. Probably back either before or during training on Tuesday. Hardly budget breaking stuff and the exact same thing every manager would do for unknown opposition.

£400 quid each this time, how many times does it get done.
From my original point I also stated that Taylor went down to England to watch a first team championship game - why??? None of those players would come to us.
It's just poor decision after poor decision pissing money up against the wall.
Why are we spending money to scout a team in a tournament we should be sending out the kids?
Why do we have a double glazing salesman as our director of football that has to be earning at least £70k per year otherwise he would never have left said double glazing job that paid him £60k plus allowed him time off to make money at junior football.
It's all these little things we are accepting that are plunging us further into the shite and to be honest it's the fans couldn't care less attitude that is letting these fucking morons continue with their abject buffoonery.

Because I can't be fucked trying to micromanage every decision made by the football club. Tbh some (Not pointing the finger st anybody in paeticular) get such a boner about the financials of the club and they don't have the background to understand why....they get angry and moan about it for a while then move onto the next thing.
But going back to my point, Bowers made a comment which he is allowed to do - this is a message board. The implication of his comments were that ray was away to take a pal to Ibiza for a week to get leathered on the season ticjet money.Which winds up other folk and leads to a more depressing club.
Everybody who gets involved with United is subject to abuse. Spence got it. Ram duthie gets it. Even one of my all time United legends light was getting from folk on mad...
The club is never going to move forward while all the bile flows from the stands. And before you say it yes ST has a lot to do with it and has his faults but we don't have a viable alternative at the moment unless the yellow scarf brigade have a multimillionaire sitting in the wings. I'd love it but doubt it.

I don't generally talk much about the finances either.
As I've said on previous posts I just want to turn up and enjoy the football on display in the top six of the top league.
I didn't say much about it but the more I hear about our finances from people in the know, the more I panic about a glorified tea boy running our club and making bad mistakes but not learning from them.
I work for a much bigger company than united. We are going through tough times but no where near as perilous. There is a 6 month travel ban on all employees including CEO. These are the measures needing taken - apparently not at our club that is technically insolvent.
That's the sort of incompetence that boils my piss

To be fair Tangy, I think United fans have generally been very patient at matches.
If there is any 'bile' as you call it, it surfaces more on message boards and, I'm told, social media.
I know there is often a bit of booing at half-time and full-time, but that is a universal method of fans displaying their displeasure at performances. Even successful clubs witness it.

how many of these all expense paid jollys go on per season when we are in financial fucking meltdown that can be cut back on?
its fucking crusaders in the irn bru cup we are playing which we have mostly played u20 players in to date..
the game is live on tv why cant he do his mission from the comfort of his or one of the merry mens living room?
things like this that the club should be cutting back on to save funds especially when the next loan is just around the corner.

Aye bill, I get ya. Thing is the constant negativity on the message boards has gone on too long. It's boring the hell out of me. There is a comparison between anti ST crowds and The rhetoric directed towards trump - everything seems to spiral into 10 times what it is (though I think Trump is an idiot and how The Americans deemed him The best fit for one of the most important roles in the world, I'll never know)
The fans have travelled in spectacular numbers considering the situation we find ourselves in.... It's all too predictable. United win, then there's an eery silence on the message board. United lose and all hell breaks loose.

its clear you have a pathological hatred for all things utd post 2015 that your opinion fair enough.
But too suggest that it is just as beneficial to watch the opposition as it is too watch it live shows a clear lack of judgement on your part. Judging by comments you have made in the past about youtube managers I think you must have just let your boiling anger get in the way of your judgement.

There are alot of things the board could have changed in the past 2/3 years that they havnt and have no intention to change the direction the club is heading.
Im not or have never said a multi millionaire or dubai king or any similar sort is needed whats needed is a board made up of proper football/business men/women who know what they are doing who wont continually roll the dice
And sit together and pray an ex player is sold so we get a bit of cash to keep things ticking for a few more month.

anyway scouting- some of this season's signings i thought were not too bad and most of us would agree that on paper we have the best squad in the league.
nothing wrong in my opinion with him going over there to see how they set with and without the ball up and also get a look some players.
hope we win tomorrow cause that the only way to improve morale on and off the pitch.
