Club For Sale

News that Mike Ashley has put Newcastle up for sale made me think what this actually means. ST said last year that he was open to offers but is that the same as putting the club up for sale?

If you are actually trying to sell something (e.g your house), you market it, make sure it's appealing to potential buyers, let them see what's on offer and speak to them about the benefits of ownership.

Does anyone think ST has even thought about doing any of that?

It's like the potential Scotland manager candidates saying "They know where to get me". Can you imagine being out of work and taking that attitude to a vacancy?

Football is a fucked up industry

Re: Club For Sale

Wonder if ST will be interested in a deal we Mike Ashley. Efter ah, he was trying to buy Newcastle Jets no lang ago.

Re: Club For Sale

'Up for sale' = diving into the pool
'Open to offers' = dipping your toe

Re: Club For Sale

Thing is, ST could take out full page ads in every newspaper in the land and stick ads on 100ft billboards on every street corner and he still wouldn't attract a buyer.  What sane person would buy a Scottish football club?  You might as well head down to the Tay and chuck all your money in there as it will result in the same outcome.

Re: Club For Sale

Rumours afoot that the female shagger Justine has sold her shares to the baldy shaggers mate Mike Martin.
I had heard she was definitely out by next year - this is probably a little quicker.

Same boy that told me that rumour said that although our debt was looking around £3M the actual debt was north of £7M.
Just thought I'd mention it now that one of his tips looks to have been correct 😩

The £7M figure possibly includes the fanciful amount that someone may think the club is worth (£4M?).

I'd read of Mike Martin buying Justine's shares, and thought that a bank savvy individual wouldn't do such a thing if the club was anywhere near being close to administration, or worse. Maybe it's a good sign?

Also, the company Mike Martin and Stephen Thompson set up reportedly to move in on Newcastle Jets has had a change to a more United orientated company name.

...and yet another rumour with no detail

we suddenly accrue an additional £4m+ of what would be unsecured debt...no how or to whom

I'll stick my neck out and call shite on this

Cheers - should no better than to post rumours on a message board.

In fairness he was right about Justine and this is the same boy that told me about camperdown back in April. Next time he pipes up I'll demand a spreadsheet from him and if it's not forthcoming I'll tell him to wind his neck in.

I'm merely questioning what looks like a spectacularly ill-founded rumour - and I have given reasons for doing so

Too many are imo ready to jump in on any rumour that shows the board in a poor light.

You are of course entitled to put a rumour out there - just don't expect it to go unchallenged

So he was spectacularly ill informed about the debt but spectacularly correct about Justine 🤔
Next time I see him I'll let him know, if anything he is spectacular!

Next time you meet him you could ask him where the extra £4m debt appeared from and who was insane enough to fund it on an unsecured basis - that would be more useful exercise.
You can see why I'm a wee bit sceptical about this - or should we just accept this on your say so?

Re: Club For Sale

tbf there does seem to be few rumours the past 2/3 days regarding Justines shares and an  American takeover.
there was an American interested in buying the club before but was put off by the price thompsons wanted.
I don't know if it could be him who is interested again or someone else.

You don't have to accept anything on my say so.
I was just passing on some additional info I was given from a mate I know is well connected with Dundee football.
Forgive me if I don't take your suggestion and start demanding more info and tangible proof next time we speak.
Usually if I do he tends to clam up a bit.
I can see why you're sceptical- I don't necessarily believe him or everything he says but he has been right on a few things.

Fair enough - lets leave it there - if your mate I'd right I'll be the first to hold my hands up  - not the first time 😁

That's interesting bowers. Based on no inside information or proof, Mike Martin, if he has bought Justine's shares, has US business associates.

A company of which he is a directors has three other directors, all from the USA.

Have you any names?

Mind, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Maybe 2+2 = 5.

You are quoting something but not actually saying anything yourself. Not the first time youve done this.

Who would want a re developed Super Shed with safe standing and en draught beer seats to watch a multi million team with a big  enough  squad to cope with suspensions for our old school hard style with modern flair anyway.
