Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

We certainly don't have our problems to seek on the injury front.

Almost certainly out are N'Koyi (hamstring),and Fraser (knee).

And severely doubtful are Quinn (infection),Keatings (dead leg) and King (knee).

Add in longterm absentees like Scobbie and Matty Smith and it is looking like our options are severely limited (particulary in an attacking sense).

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Our medical team are either the unluckiest ever or the most incompetent. Been like this for a good while now.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Severely doubtful due to a dead leg?  I got them all the time at school and ran them off in a few minutes.

FFS

Ah c'mon Macho, you don't run off a charley horse.

You wonder tho if some players with dodgy medical records end up at Tannadice cos other clubs won't risk them.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Not to worry, Scott McDonald's gonna be "bang at it" according to The Cardigan.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

There is also an element of because we are playing shite and he may have lost the dressing room that players will 'feel' their injuries more than if we were 'bang at it'.

Once Ray goes , I'll wager the crocks will have the Lazarus effect and will be gambolling around like spring lambs.

Just meh opinion!

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Would line up with:

Lewis

Murdoch Durnan Edge Robson

               Briels Stanton

McMullan                       King

            McDonald Piggott.

Get the ball out wide time after time and crosses into the box. Pen them in their own half. If Ray resorts to the 4-3-2-1 then may as well pack his bags.

Back o six and nae comments on the days game.

If I didnae know better I'd guess the Ray haters are beelin that we won.

That'd be sad as fuck though so I'll just assume the interweb is broken in the UK

you may well have a point there scarpia the armageddon boys a bit quiet its only one game but a lot better today a well deserved victory. Mcdonald had his best game in a united shirt. Only downside was that we did not win by more

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Good to get 3 points

Mcdonald keatings fyvie briels mcmullan done well i thought also king better today.
Robson and murdoch horrific.
Had chances in first half that  we were unlucky with.
Poor goal to give away again.

Mckinnon out.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Compared to the last few weeks, today was an improvement by Utd which was good to see. Created several more chances and as previously mentioned, probably should have won by more.

Hopefully this'll give the Utd players a boost in confidence and continue the improvement going forward.

Should be a decent crowd for next week's game, potentially a top of the table clash as it stands at the moment.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Miles better today, forward boys were starting to look like a team rather than individuals. Minding this Morton team has been playing well over the past few weeks we made them look poor for long spells. Are we the finished team, no, was that better, yes. Beers are cold and 3pts in the bag.

Have the team and management got the message, have we finally clicked, far too early to say but for tonight well done Ray and the players.

Please bring the same desire and positive play next week

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

That for me was much better. The best performance I've seen so far this Season. Yeah there was a couple of fau-pas, but the overall performance was very good.

We started well, but there were times when I felt Morton were bullying us a wee bit in the 1st half. (that chunt that was fouling Robson). 2nd half was excellent. Great ba in fae McMullan for Keats goal. Great finish. Defending for Morts equaliser was poor. Glad McDonald was able to punt it in during the carfufle in the box for our winner.

Ref seemed a bit of a tosspot. And the lino on the GF side. I thought he was one of they toy players fae that Striker game that ye needed to push his haed doon for him to lift his flag.

Deserved win IMO. MOTM for me, probably McDonald, but King or McMullan no far behind.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Great win today, at half time I could only see a draw or worse a sneaked Morton win.

Regarding the defence, Lewis made a couple of mistakes, one for the goal, one where he should have come for the ball as Murdoch and Quitongo were vying for the ball, but the second worked out well, as the biggest Morton threat had an injury problem in the aftermath.

As an aside, if the laddie Jai Quitongo could get clear of his injury issues, he'd be a huge asset to most sides in Scotland.

But back to the defence: Edge and Durnan appeared to nurse injuries at various points in the match, perhaps an explanation as to why Robson and eventually Murdoch seemed to struggle: they were a bit tighter onto the central defence as protection.

In midfield, Fyvie is a huge asset, while Briels is another rare Dutchman who can't pass the ball well. At least he wasn't booked today.

King was good, Keatings is a puzzle, McDonald possesses a fine football brain and McMullan doesn't (yet), but he provides a nuisance value and today, a grand assist.

N'Koyi offered an different outlet when introduced.

All the above just my opinion.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Better performance, unlucky not to be 1 or 2 up at half time.

Felt good to hear all 3 stands going together loudly after 2nd and to tell Harkins something. Ref too helped us channel built up frustration towards something other than the team and manager.

Huge game next week compared to the usual feeling in this league. I miss the passion you get playing real rivals. Big boysterous away support at Dunfermline for a top of the table clash will add something recently missing and could be a major point in the season.

Thought we looked different altoghether again when Paddy came on. No sure he's great but teams are more than aware of the majority of oor players styles and managers tactics but seem caught cold with him and the change in play when he's on.

Re: Dufc v Morton - Saturday 23rd September

Good to get a win and against one of the better sides in the Championship.

A real shot in the arm for the whole club actually (supporters, players and most of all probably McKinnon).

It means little though if we go back to playing like shit next weekend in the big match v Dunfermline.

We must start hitting top form and taking this league by the scruff of the neck.

2nd place (or worse) just isn't an option this season.
