Not including playoffs
Both pishy 1-0 efforts
One against the mighty Ayr and the other against ICT
McNamara-esque effort from 'the cardigan'
Probably haven't played the same team consecutively either in that period.

Played the same formation though.
How anyone can defend him is beyond me, there's not a hope in hell we'll win this division if we maintain a record like that, or anything even close to it.

Shocking record to have, absolutely not good enough!
Our next away game is against the Pars who have won all their home games so far this season...
Don't see this changing anytime soon unfortunately. Hopefully I'm proved wrong!

Attacking his dress sense now?
A cardi's quite eloquent I think.
As it gets colder tho he'll need something warmer.
Maybe our performances will warm up too.

Wasn't attacking, merely Observing he likes a cardigan.
I think you mean elegant not eloquent.
Nice to see that is your main takeaway though and not his shocking away record.

I didnt think it was this bad untill a mate pointed it out yesterday
That win at ayr was a lucky one a horrific performance that day.
Wssnt at ict but let to believe we were lucky that day.
Totally unacceptable form.

Yeah sorry EHA, I'll let you off with observing, not attacking. Maybe a wee snider tho...?
And I couldn't wait til I got in to work this morning to correct my vocabulary, hit me like a battleaxe whilst waiting at the lights. Elegant or sartorial but defo not eloquent.
General point tho, we're not where we expected to be after one third of the first half of the season, game 6 out of 18. After a further 12 games (Dec 23) there will be a decision to be made. I don't think 'the cardigan' needs told that. I hope that he stays then cos it'll mean that we've got a whole lot better.

Amazing contrast to our home form which is one loss out of 30.
I assume we've played the same-ish number of away games so two wins out of 30 is as bad as it gets.
And as you point out Ayr was apparently a stinker & ICT was unconvincing at best.
I wonder why it's so bad, possibly the very impressive home form is on paper only. The actuality is we've been pretty rubbish at home & we take that form to the away game where we don't get away with it.

2017.....we have won 7 games out of 23 (excluding play offs and cup).
In that time we've won by more than ONE goal ONCE.
And goal difference in same period is minus 5.With the 2nd biggest league budget last season and the biggest this season.

I'm done wee away games, shite performance after shite performance!

The reason i highlighted your grammatical error was to demonstrate how focusing on something irrelevant rather than addressing the point of the post can be somewhat frustrating.
With regards to your point, I'm not where I'd hope to be after over a year of ray in charge.
We play turgid stuff. There is no attempt to attack. This is not good enough for the big team in the league.
What do you see based on his record or on recent form that gives you hope things will turn?
Even if no team pulls away, end of December could be a tall order for a new incumbent to get us promoted.
Another question, how do you think ray would do in the prem if he got us promoted?

Not good enough.
We've scored 5 goals in league this term, Dunfermline have 18.
It's not as alarming when you create chances and miss them but we're not really doing that either. Struggling to break down Dumbartons & Brechins.
McKinnon simply isn't getting the best out of his pool of players.

I guess I'm just a cock-eyed optimist EHA....
Question back at you then. What makes you think a replacement manager/head coach will do anything?
I give you JM, MP & RM. The majority of our support were chuffed with all 3 appointments, don't deny it. BUT if our club had known how the newly-appointed manager/head coach was going to fare, if they'd had a crystal ball, they would NOT have appointed 13 of the last 15 since JYM. Frying pans & fires & all that - getting rid of RM for ?? would be tantamount to getting rid of JM for MP. Looking back we might have fared better had we kept JM after McDiarmid tho admittedly his position had been compromised cos of contract leak.

If our away form had even been average last season we'd be playing Premier League football right now instead of Hibs.
The reason why we've only scored 5 goals is because of the style and formation we play, both of which are too slow and predictable and more about stopping the opposition and therefore not conducive to scoring goals. If he took the shackles off the players we'd piss this league.

Nothing wrong with optimism.
I thought we were nailed on for promotion this year and was as optimistic as I allowed myself to be in a long while.
What has followed has been a nasty realisation that the manager is too negative and doesn't try to win games - just not lose them.
You must move in different circles from me as honestly, the people I talk to thought it was the cheap option every time.
For JM - it should have been Derek McInnes
Mixu - Tommy Wright
Ray - fuck knows but not happy with ex players, but we'll give him a chance.
They were genuinely non hindsight opinions going around the folk I go to the games with.
As it stands - I don't know who I'd get in just now. I want someone with a winners mentality that plays attacking football and has the team well organised.

Why do you insist that he gets till Christmas though? He's not improved whatsoever in his 15 months in charge, what makes you think he'll change so drastically in the next 3?
The definition of insanity is to keep trying the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. What's the point in waiting till December when we know Raymond's not gonna get us any close to winning the league by then? Why not make the change now and give the new manager time to get us up to where we need to be?
FWIW, I have no personal agenda against Ray, he seems like a decent enough guy, if a bit dour. The only problem I have with him is that he's not doing an acceptable job of managing Dundee United.

How can you say the new guy is going to turn round our fortunes? We do have a history of appointing managers who turn out to be duds. The Fun are worse by the way. It's a MASSIVE gamble. Someone like Jon Daly might turn out to be Sir Alex tho there's more chance he'd be a Craig Brewster (sorry Craig).

You're absolutely right, there's no guarantee the new guy would turn our fortunes around. And with ST conducting the interviews, we'd likely end up with another Jackie or Mixu or Raymond. What's clear though, is that what we have isn't working, the only option we have is to roll the dice and hope ST stumbles onto someone capable of getting us up. Even a clock without batteries is right twice a day.
I do believe that even a semi-competent manager would be able to take the players we have, and have them win the Championship comfortably.

I was delighted when we signed RM as he was doing a great job with Raith. However I cannot now see him able to turn things around as I fear he has lost the dressing room. I think we need to get rid now so a proper job can be done to evaluate potential replacements. I would also put e.g. Scott McDonald in charge whilst we get a replacement manager. IMHO of course.

Really sorry to admit it, I too was happy when we got Ray, but assumed that on the basis of the previous disasters Thompson would (a) have checked to see whether Ray was going to play a different way from Jackie/Mixu and (b) would have had some system in place to monitor the teams progress as well as the promises Ray made at the outset (e.g. that he will make players better) and a get out clause if Ray didn't shape up.We now have a chairman who amongst his many other failings has appointed 3 duff managers with every likelihood of doing so again. Seems that nobody learns from mistakes at Tannadice.

Would Scott McDonald not be more of a problem than a solution?

If you believe that would be the case (and you may be correct if some pundits are accurate about his dressing room influence).................. then why did Ray sign him?
Another major problem for the club: why did we give Raymond's pal the job of director of football?
