Please note season tickets are not valid for this game.
The Alloa game takes on a new dimension does it not?
Quite useful in the overall scheme of things.
But for the Irn Bru we'd be sitting on a fortnight off & no chance to exorcise the St Mirren game.
We must play most of 'out of form' players.
I would field the projected starting XI for the Dumbarton game.
This team needs practice.

Won't repeat my thoughts on the tournament, but a winning performance against Alloa Athletic won't improve my thoughts on our form this season, or my doubts on the obstinate tactics shown by Ray McKinnon.
Playing the 'out of form' players means same line up as against St Mirren, and that wouldn't be my team against Dumbarton.

If one or two do well in the Development Derby tonight i would like to see them start on Saturday.
Does anyone know the timeframe for any of our injured players to return?
Inparticular i would like to see Matty Smith back in the first team.

Must play the likes of McDonald and Fyvie, we cani keep using the excuse 'their no fit' it wasn't ti day with fitness fir how bad they 2 in particular were on Saturday, McDonald fir me was very poor, didn't hold the ball up didn't run in the channels (no his game, fair enough) but he hus ti be better in possession. I'd also play Quinn and Edge because Durnan hus went back to his usual sh!t and needs dropped!

It's Alloa in the crap cup, for christs sake go 4-4-2 with McDonald and N'Koyi up front and go at them.

Haha. I wasnt intending this thread to be about the game. Was to point out that clubs able to not make this game all ticket in the dode fox but the dumbarton game is. Fecking joke. Club being stubborn as fook and wont change it.

I'd agree, play mostly a youthful side. But surely you don't want these guys to be lining up against Dumbarton, Smeds?

I was aware I was contradicting myself Pat from an earlier post but I think Ray McKinnon has maybe changed his mind too. I was thinking in the aftermath of the St Mirren fiasco play much the same team again almost as a form of punishment! Hopefully then we would gain something from the Alloa exercise, call it a 'training game' and if all goes well put them in again v Dumbarton, we've given them a 2nd chance. Like I said the out-of-form XI needs practice as a team.
We'd all love to see fast, free-flowing football at Tannadice tomorrow with a good few goals like we've not seen for ages & this Alloa game does give us that very opportunity. It's a very timely fixture irrespective of your views on the merits of the Irn Bru Challenge Cup.

Don't see much point in playing a youth side in this game unless we want knocked out. Alloa are way better than Cowdenbeath, I'd be playing a similar team to the St Mirren game but maybe Briels, N'Koyi and Edge starting.
My priorities are
1) Win the game
2) Make sure we pick the players who are most needing a game for one reason or another

Any competition is good as far as I'm concerned. Can't be done with all these snooty fans.

The competition is certainly not capturing the imagination of the fans. When crowds were poor in the old summer cup or the Drybourgh cup the tournament was binned. Doomcasters solution is to bring in colt sides, he really is clueless. If there is space for more games have more league games. In saying that seen as utd are playing i will be there

As I've said before, the changes have been made as a justification/precedent to include Glasgow colt sides into the lower league system at a future point, while the inclusion of non-Scottish sides is the Trojan Horse for cross border competition involving Celtic and an Ibrox side in years to come.
Doncaster isn't clueless, he's a puppet.

Im totally with you on the colt sides it would be an awful idea that our chairman would surely not vote for. Im not against the idea of a cross border competition but i dont think the RUK would be interested in having CFC or RFC 2012 coming to their town the filthy arrogant scummy bastard supporters are not welcome anywhere.

Went alang the day ,mare fir the young lad than anything else.
Hard ti watch AGAIN, thought the 'first team' players were as poor as any.
Flood- just husni got it anymare, although hit a great strike at the end.
McMullan- same as when he was at Dunfermline, played 1 or 2 good gems and fans start creaming their pants oor um, poor the day but did tak his goal well.
Allardice- square peg roond hole.
Toshney- looked better at CB eh thought, one maste his headers, still no good enough.
Edge- Dina ken what's happened ti um this season or maybe even last season he just wasni very good?
N'Koyi- still trying ti work um oot, looks good in parts, falls oor the ball in others.
Harvey Daily again impressed me oot the young lads, no great distribution but hopefully that'll come, the boy chalmers is nae where near ready, and Thomas was quiet. New guy Piggot looks a good size but didni win many headers put his wiy, he'll be a U20's player this year.
