St.Mirren πŸ†š DUFC - Saturday 24/8/17 (3pm)

St.Mirren are a funny lot.

Looking at their results this season so far.

Beaten at home by Livi in the Betfred.

Hammered 5 nil by Partick away.

Then dished out a 5 nil hammering themselves to Airdrie.

Followed that up by gubbing Falkirk 3-1 before a week later getting gubbed 4-1 away to Morton in the Renfrewshire Derby.

And finally, last week travelled to Livi and gained revenge on their earlier defeat to them by winning 1-3 (with 10 men too).

So you never quite know what St.Mirren will show up.

It would seem they have goals in their team. But it would also seem they can ship a few.

Think we can win but we need to be far better than we have been thus far.

Would like to see the team as below πŸ‘‡

.............................Lewis...................
Murdoch...Durnan..Quinn...Robson
....................Fyvie......Flood........
..........King........Stanton....McMullan
........................McDonald...

Subs - Mehmet,Fraser,Briels,N'Koyi
Edjenguele,Toshney,Keatings

Toughest test if the season so far on saturday will be a hard game.

Hopefully he drops keatings if still injured.

Think we will struggle.

What's the injury situation?  I'm thinking Fraser, Keatings struggling & Matty Smith & Scobbie def out. That about right?

Need to be a vast improvement in performance for me! The results are great so far! but I think we have been pretty p****unfortunately. Having McMullan back is a bonus.

Re: St.Mirren πŸ†š DUFC - Saturday 24/8/17 (3pm)

Raymond said in the paper that Keatings has come back too early and that his ankle was "up like a balloon" after Saturday. He also said that he'll be on the bench in case we need a goal.

I do wonder about RM's logicΒ

Worked well rushing him back.
Fucking idiots at the club. No need in it what so ever.

Re: St.Mirren πŸ†š DUFC - Saturday 24/8/17 (3pm)

We need a fit Keatings for down the line.

We have Nkoyi and we especially have McMullan back.

Rest him ffs.

St Mirren will play a high tempo game which we need to match.

Strangely without Fraser, I think that will help us in that respect.

Hoping for win, but expect a draw.

I think I'd take a draw being a realist. But frankly, we should be able to beat St. Mirren with our squad

Re: St.Mirren πŸ†š DUFC - Saturday 24/8/17 (3pm)

I'd play

Lewis

Murdoch Durnan Quinn Robson

McMullan Briels Stanton King

N'Koyi McDonald.

St Mirren concede a lot of goals, so attack, attack, attack, attack, attack

Is that Edje rubbered then?
Most posters are leaving him out?
Bit harsh maybe?
We need a fit Fraser to fit in somewhere, he's our most creative player & we need to create.
Whatabout Toshers for a defensive mid role, gives us more of a physical presence, he's due us a turn.

If Quinn is better than Edge then he should play. Maybe harsh on Big Wullie but that's football.

Physio should have spoken up and told Ray it was too early for Keatings to play. We have cover for Keatings in Chalmers and N'Koyi. No need to rush him back.

Not sure anyone can say if Quinn is better than Edge yet really. They'll both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Everyone seems to have decided that Quinn is better the Edje but based on what?
Didn't Durnan had a couple of shaky moments v City?

Like last season we've got to get the # 10 role area right.
At least this season we do have two wide players leaving 3 places for Stanton, Fyvie, Flood, Fraser, Briels & Allardice.
Then we've got to get our strike force right from McDonald, Keatings, N'Koyi & Smith, maybe only one vacancy there if it's 4-2-3-1.

Spot on, this has happened to often at Tannadice, give them time to recover no need to rush them back, it always seems to backfire anyway.

We don't need a fit Fraser to fit in somewhere, we need a fit Fraser right in the middle of the park and fit everyone else around him.  He's wasted and ineffective out wide, he's the best in the league  centrally.  Need to start playing our best players in their best position.

Regarding Edge I'm not convinced Quinn's any better, but it's maybe the boot up the arse he needs.

Quinn showed one of his weaknesses today bumming the old Huns up in the papers: why are players so stupid as to be drawn into that nonsense?

And I don't necessarily think we rush players back (although we have with Keatings): there have been quite a few who the club seemed to think would be back in a few weeks, in the past, yet they've been out for ages.Β

It's the quality of medical judgement at Tannadice I'd question.

I certainly haven't came to the assumption he's better (or worse) than Edjenguele yet.

But he has played in 2 games.

Both have resulted in clean sheets (albeit the latter was fortuitous).

So he deserves the chance to build on that imo.

Edge shouldn't just walk back into the side.Should be made to fight for his place this season.

Aren't you ignoring the fact Edge has played in two of our league games so far conceding one goal? Not a bad record either.

Re: St.Mirren πŸ†š DUFC - Saturday 24/8/17 (3pm)

Tully said last night that Briels will play (direct quote from Ray)Β and that Flood also in line for a start.Β  I think that will mean 4-2-3-1 with Flood and Briels in midfield and Fyvie left out (hopefully concentrating on his diet).

I'll predict:

Lewis

Murdoch
Durnan
Edge
Robson

Flood
Briels

King
Stanton
McMullan

McDonald

Subs: Deniz, N'Koyi, Quinn, Fyvie, Fraser, Keatings, Allardice.

Is Toshney injured btw?Β  Heard absolutely nothing on that front.

Too much commotion

I believe Keatings is injured again (put back in too soon)
