Favourite Scottish Movies

Plenty to choose from, here's a few to get started - Restless Natives, Comfort and Joy, Local Hero, The Angels Share, Gregorys Girl, The Wickerman...

I'm a big fan of Local Hero although not so much of Gregorys Girl, I did enjoy it but don't see it as a classic as other people might.

Although not a 'jump out of your seat' kind of scarey, The Wickerman is one creepy movie.

Re: Favourite Scottish Movies

I really like 'On a Clear Day' with Peter Mullan about a guy who loses his job in the Clyde shipyards and decides to swim the English Channel to win back some self-respect and try to bury the memory of his son who drowned.

I've never fancied doing a marathon or a parachute jump, but did think about attempting this swim. Until I realised I'd most likely drown or take a heart attack whilst doing it.

Too much commotion

Re: Favourite Scottish Movies

A sense of freedom followed by Trainspotting get my vote

Hear their shout, hear their roar
They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more
Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah
Over the hill went the swords of a thousand men

Re: Favourite Scottish Movies

Local Hero is a good one. A recent addition for me is Filth. Another Peter Mullen one is My Name is Joe, pretty dark, does well not to shy away.

Just had a look for this, but can't find it anywhere. Tried to see if Amazon even had a 2nd hand copy. Will keep looking.

Depending on the mood:-

Or

Anything by Bill Forsyth.
