Cammy has maybe paid the €200m release fee ?
It's not going to be quite as much as that. Perhaps a couple of hundred grand ;)

Good stuff. Frees up a wage.
explain why it's "good stuff".
yesterday it was we are due a transfer fee for the once capped and last year's player of the year and today it's your free to go Canny.Well, if Cammy paid the money United were after then that's cool, isnt it?
fantasy land..
we now need to sign an experienced keeper or it WILL cost us.

How do you think this has played out?
Cammy was clearly tapped up by his best mate McCulloch, after fannying about, they thought they had the club over a barrel.
Cammy clearly thought he'd get his contract paid up then he'd go to Kilmarnock for free. Win win for the Hun buddies.
United done all they could to minimise losses on bell and not over extend themselves after they had made provisions for him leaving based on his antics a couple of months ago.
We are not signing another keeper as we have just went out and got 2.

clearly after saying yeaterday we will get a fee if he leaves them less than 24hrs later the opposite happens it does not put us in any strong position with any future transfers or contract negotiations. Can you not see That?
we are a shambles at boardroom level.
as for not having an experienced keeper we are banging our head against a wall

Clearly he has had to buy out his contract after chancing his mitt. Might not be a fee, but it is money getting paid into the club.
Like all players, I'd rather have good ones than experienced ones. Kawashima was experienced and he was shite, so was derek stillie, list could go on forever.
I am no fan of the board but without having clear evidence of tapping up or wanting to go to a tribunal - this is the best outcome for a journeyman keeper with a year left on his deal.

I would be fucking fuming if we used Cammy bells wages for another goalie! Keepers don't have to be experienced, you have clearly been scared from the Zwick and szromnik situation! Lewis is miles ahead of they two clowns, get a winger and a striker in and dominate this league

Agreed, I do not see the point in another goalie.

its not all about experience its about quality. Danny Ward at aberdeen would be a good example of that a sheep supporting colleague tells me he there best since lieghton we maybe have the fear after Zwick and Szormsnick but those two clowns will still be shite in their 30s.

Liked him as a keeper & person. Did wonder why he never shifted the pre seasonish midrift weight.
Wasnae sure the twitter anouncement to web link grief was justified but left us open to 419 mainly pisstaking comments fae dees n' Sevconians so lesson to be learned there for sure for our madia dept or who ever maybe told them to go that route.
Cammy speaking his side through the Sun said a lot for the circumstances and I lost any empathy for his situation at that point.
Best keeper for a while.
Hope young Harry Lewis continues his good start that benefits us, himself and Southampton. Like Shedboy says it can bring us mair O' the same in other positions if that loan shit is working.

Dissapointed he's gone as i thought he was arguably our POTY last season and definitely our most solid Keeper since Dusan Pernis.
Not sure the extent of the fall-out between him and McKinnon but agree with CCX2010 that it's a huge U-Turn by the BoD and McKinnon in just 24 hours from.
'Cammy Bell will only leave here if we recieve a transfer fee'
To
'Cammy Bell's Dundee United contract has been ripped-up by mutual consent'.
I have no problem btw with releasing a player who is unhappy but the way this whole affair has been handled has been quite poor and contradictory at times.
A lot resting now on the shoulders of a 19 year old.We can only hope he is upto it.

It's a U-turn for sure, but there's also been a u-turn by Bell who's obviously been wanting a pay off and now accepted that's not gonna happen. Imo both sides have handled this poorly, but it's not really that unusual a situation to crop up in football.
Fwiw I reckon the boy Lewis will prove to be better, admittedly that's not really based on much other than just a feeling.

There will be a confidentiality agreement signed. Always is these days.

There is a lot resting on his shoulders that is correct however its worked before at other clubs with the likes of danny ward, tim krul and kasper schmeikel. Im more than happy utd are giving Lewis a chance.

He's absolutely no great loss.
While Lewis is learning - he has shown his willingness to come for crosses, missed one or two but he'll get there with that. Bell stays on his line and that causes problems when balls drop into his zone. Puts pressure on his defence with that.
There was a save right at the death with Rory Deacon when he raced off his line to block at his feet - he timed it perfectly. Bell would never have went for that.
Really excited about how good this kid can be for us this season. You dont play for Southampton, one of the best clubs at rearing players in England, if you're shite.

Bell was a really good signing, played well for us over-all last season. however he clearly wanted to leave so cheerio, enjoy Kilmarnock ya fud.
Lewis wants to be here and learn and improve, aye he's young but he'll be good enough.

Bell medical at 9 and signed by mid day at Killie.
He was clearly desperate to be the last line of defence behind Gordon Greer and Kirk Broadfoot
