Beat 2nil today.
Anyone who was there able to give us a summary
Heard Paul Dixon started.

That's a fucking joke about Dixon.
I have a feeling our elongated end to last season could be an issue just now. It has been such a quick turnaround with a massive turnover of players that we've not had a long enough pre-season to be properly ready to go for next week. When you add in the fact we've not got enough new faces in yet it does not bode well for the League Cup games. Our season went on about a fortnight longer than the previous season.
Did Flood and Bell play today? If not that means they've not played any pre-season games. McKinnon also mentioned on Arabzone that Scott Fraser had only trained for one day before the Blackpool game.
That's it, I'm pushing the panic button!

Pretty clear going on some of Rays comments that these LC games will be treated as pre season friendlies with the Dundee game being the first one he will consider are properly 'competitive'.
Fine by me. We cant care about that cup this year. With him going for a squad of 18, we cant afford to have too many games again.
100% that the long season last year has hurt us. The players got 4 weeks off which is also a lot less than other teams. Most had 6 minimum.

I'd agree all our eggs in one basket for me, need to get out this league. Get the right boys in even if it takes another couple of weeks, if it means getting knocked out of the league cup, fizzy pop cup too.
It was a puzzling game, Peterheid scored a goal either half, first a header from a free & then a Vinny flog I'm afraid, he took things a wee bit too easily on the bye line near the corner & their boy got possession & beat Mehmet from a tight angle. Shame cos apart from that Mehmet barely touched the ball. Bell was in goal first half. We had most of the play, just, but Peterheid looked half decent. I see the kids emerging, Allardice, the two Smiths & Ballantyne. It was quite a robust game, some towsy challenges, one that had Jamie Robson leaving the scene. We had a big coloured lad playing upfront 1st half with Paddy but he couldn't get into the game at all. Keatings & McMullen came on 2nd half & we threatened a bit more but best chance was on 90 mins but their goalie had a great reflex save on the line, probably from Keatings but not certain.

Thanks for the insight Smeddum.
I'll try not to worry too much like i tried not to get carried away with the win.
Fkn desperate for some quality signings.

Couldn't give a toss about the result, however it does seem quite bizarre that Dixon is back. Unless he's just been giving training facilities?

Training facilities I can get but he shouldn't be getting game time when we have a squad who we should be playing before him. Especially is he is using the club for keeping in shape

1st half line up was:
Bell
Toshney Quinn Scobbie Robson
M Smith B Smith Allardice Dixon
Trialist Nkoyi
2nd half:
Trialist (Mehmet)
Toshney Durnan Edge Scobbie
B Smith Ballantyne
King Fraser Mcmullan
Keatings
*Pretty Sure that's how we finished the game 2nd half. Someone one can maybe correct me if I'm wrong. We started second half with trialist ST and Nkoyi still on the field.
Not giving a match report as such but.
Bell: Not a lot to do, couldn't prevent the goal first half.
Toshney: Ripped down the right several time but he wasn't helped much. (SEE M Smith)
Quinn: Done okay, had several disagreements with Toshney though. Nothing major btw.
Scobbie: Thought he was good tbh. Didn't get much by him.
Robson: Made a couple challenges before being taken off injured near.end of first half.
M Smith: Decent going forward. Defensively all over the place, marked the wrong man several times, left Toshney 2 on 1 several times.
B Smith: done all right, wasn't overly impressed though.
Allardice: tried to pick out a few passes, played a few decent balls to M Smith.
Dixon: bit anonymous. A couple decent balls the few times we did go down the left.
Trialist: I thought he was okay when he was given the ball, knocked a few balls on well. Snatched at a chance though. Fought for a ball at the back post to header back across goal but no one gambled. Worth another look IMO.
Nkoyi: never done too.much in all.honesty. In fairness we didn't create much.
2ND HALF:
Mehmet: Never had much to do, Durnan made an arse of the goal.
Durnan: Okay until he flogged the goal, Fraser takes a bit of the blame as well IMO For trying to beat a man too many prior to this.
Edge: not much to do tbh.
Ballantyne: Put in a couple challenges in Midfield. Had space a couple times but was roundly ignored.
King: I thought he was decent in Montrose. Never seen much of the ball yesterday.
Fraser: Tricky as ever, looked tired though.
Mcmullan: Looked tricky and beat a few men but couldn't create any real sitters. Him and Keatings argued with Nkoyi, told him to start putting in more effort.
Keatings: looked a much better team.when he came on. Only real effort came . from him which the keeper saved.

Thanks for that Morphman.
Massively underwhelmed about all our new signings if I'm honest.
At this point in time are we any better than we were last season?
N'Koyi better than Mikkelsen?
King better than Spittal?
Keating better than Murray?
Time will tell i suppose but i am massively dubious.
Tbh (and this isn't aimed at anyone Gents) it saddens me how the lack of ambition at the club has slowly filtered down over time and infiltrated the support.
The fact that a large contingent of our support are more than accepting of just 'sacking the Cups' and treating the league cup games as pre-season friendlies should be a damning indictment of how far we've fallen.
That's a good summary Morph.
Only query I have is was it not Scobbie LB 2nd half?
Great hearing the chatter on the park, some funnies too.

Your correct mate it was indeed Scobbie. Will edit it now. Aye was certainly a change hearing just how much talk does go on on the park. Moaning bastards on both teams, almost as bad as the Sunday league haha.
Edited the line up now

I'm not sure that's the way fans, or the club, is looking at this, Tek.
The irn bru cup certainly is being dismissed for a variety of reasons, and many teams have to use the lc as friendlies/warm up simply because of the set up/format of the competition for last couple of years- but everyone will be up for the Scottish Cup.
I'm frustrated by the lack of signings, but am confident we'll get the required players in due course.

This league cup format in general is a fking joke. Supposed to be one of the 3 big trophies up for grabs and no cunt knows it's going on. Way too early for "competitive" football.
