Ali Coote.
Hearing rumours he's linked with Brentford.

Seems McKinnon doesn't rate him too highly, it's worth listening depending on what is on offer.

I'm not writing him off, but did anyone see anything from him that came anywhere near justifying the fuss over him?
It's a sad state of affairs, but if a club are offering us money for players now before we even get the chance to see if they can be good for us, we have to take it.
If it's a 6 figure fee that's more than enough to make a real quality team changing signing.

Coote's development has stalled badly last 2/3 years, they reckoned he was better than Gauld at 15. Could just be another who has lost his way as so many do at that stage, or it could be the changes in coaching structure at the club have robbed him of the chance to develop properly.
We'll never know, but it certainly wouldn't be the first player that's happened to in the last few years if it is the latter.
Bottom line tho is we need a team to win this league, I don't think Coote fits into that currently. If his move brought us in a better replacement (even if it's only short term better) then it's got to happen.
Seems an odd one tho, Brentford. Somebody coming over he other way maybe?

Too early to know what we'd be loosing. All depends on what we'd replace him with. We need to clear out and start over but hard to know if it's a bad idea to loose him.
The talk of filling the squad with players with something about them, no shrinking violets and brute strength hints at replacing him. No sure I'd want to see him leave but I've craved a total clear out for a long time as have most fans.

Id sell, we don't need players for the future we need players who can get us out this league

Are these rumours from decent sources?

Thought he was ace when i first saw him but haven't really seen anything since then sadly. We'll see where this goes.

I said this before on United mad several years ago and got shot down for it but will repeat it anyway. Younger relative of mine was in his class at school and told me he had a 'big time charlie' attitude back 4/5 years ago. Him and a couple others in the academy at St John's felt they were set to be pro footballers given the hype around him and a couple others (the boy freedman also).
May explain the stall in his development if he assumed he was already good enough.

Quote from Brentford's Head of Football Operations: "It's maximising your resources on as little an amount of people as possible."
Robert Rowan is the HoFO at Brentford, a Scot who worked at Stenhousemuir nd Celtic.
From what I mind of him, he developed his statistical technique on a computer game like Football Manager.

If you include the pence it will it be 6 figure.

Only a small fee expected, then add-ons oh appearances ect, I didn't really rate the lad, seen um a few times fir the 20s he never really stood oot there and done nuhin when he appeared fir the first team to suggest he'd be involved this season.

I'm fed up of the add ons that we seem to insist on. It lowers the upfront fee and as we are all aware, we very rarely get to see any additional cash through future sales or milestones being reached.

I wonder if the small fee that we'd expect will be used to sort out a deal for Mikkelson?
Offline
50k for Mikk is a bit excessive but if we could get him for around 30k I'd say that's not too bad
Offline
The add-ons are appreance based, eh dini think he'll play much if any fir there first team he's 19year ald and wasn't gonna be playing fir a United side in the championship.
So really we're getting a 5hitty little fee.

I think he's valued at a higher price but contract up in just over 1 year. I'm hoping we can find a better replacement.
Where did the 50k figure come from LEK?

Tully reported 50k

Is Mikkelson that good that we couldn't just take the wage we'll be giving him and add the signing fee to that and get a better player?
Not convinced he was that good, maybe we overestimated his worth because previously we had no-one else.

Surely we can get better than Mikkelson?

I'd hope.

We shouldn't be paying a fee for Mikkelson, we shouldn't even be bringing him back for free. He's brutal.
Coote to Brentford in the Sun today apparently - not sure if they're saying for definite or just picking up on the rumour

That's Coote agreed terms with Brentford i'm hearing.
